Pathways to GHC

Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) is the largest gathering of women in Computing. It provides opportunities to empower and motivate women in their careers. I had the opportunity to attend GHC in 2019. I wrote an article on how to make the best of the experience here.
In this article, I gather some possible funded opportunities for students to attend GHC.
Opportunities For students:
- Microsoft Diversity Conference Scholarship: The scholarship covers the registration, travel, hotel, and meal stipend of $1,200 USD to several diversity conferences, including GHC. Recipients must be bachelors, masters, or PhD students at a four-year college or university in the United States, Canada, or Mexico.
- The Google Grace Hopper Travel Scholarship is a fully funded scholarship by Google just for GHC. It covers the registration fee, airfare, hotel and a $100 USD reimbursement for miscellaneous travel costs. Applicants must be bachelors, masters or PhD university students in the US or Canada.
- Windows Insider Grace Hopper Award The award covers registration, airfare, lodging, and meals. Applicants must be university students studying computer science or related degree program (first year college students through post-doc students are eligible). International students are also accepted.
- Google Conference and Travel Scholarships: Google offers scholarships for students to attend conferences. It offers free conference registration and reimbursement for airfare and accommodation costs . You can apply to attend GHC.
Opportunities For Women students:
- GHC Conference scholarship: GHC Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate and graduate students to attend the Celebration. Applicants must be full-time students pursing an accredited degree program at a college, university, or high school. These scholarships are also open to international students. I was awarded the scholarship in 2019. I wrote an article on how to make the best of the experience here.
Opportunities for Undergraduate women students:
- CRA-WP Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) Research Scholars Program: The GHC Research Scholars program provides undergraduate women with funds to attend GHC. Students must be attending a US institution and/or be a US citizen or permanent resident studying abroad.
- AnitaB Aspiring Technologist Scholarship: This scholarship includes travel, hotel room, and registration. It is open only for undergraduate women. Entering freshman and recent grads can also apply.
Finally, several companies also provide fully funded GHC scholarships like Twitter and Walmart. Other companies offer less beneficial scholarships like Dropbox, Qualcomm and Electronic Arts.
