About the company
ÆON Group consists of about 300 Subsidiary Companies with a focus on retail business and is the largest retail industry conglomerate in Japan with over 5,50,000 employees working in the retail space. AEON India is a client with CreditVidya and the designs were created during my tenure with the company.
The challenge
With their entry in the lending space in India, their vision was to develop a mobile application that would provide pre-approved loans to their customers in 3 simple steps. The form required multiple inputs from the customer and the challenge was to accommodate this into the designs while portraying them to be seamless and delightful.
Our process
Discovery
ÆON group had its first venture in the lending space in India. The company had tied up with offline merchants across the city and wanted to provide offline loans to the customers. The customers for these merchants usually asked for loans during the purchase of these goods.
Definition
A deeper dive had to be made in understanding the audience it is currently catering to. After thorough research, the target audience was narrowed down to applicants coming in the store and wishing to take a small ticket loan for buying consumer durables worth Rs. 10–15k. These applicants would be pre-approved through the mobile and present the code to the merchant in the store while buying the consumer durable goods.
Designs
Things had to be kept simple as the audience was not tech-savvy and animations had to be used across to help them visualize the user journey. An approach was taken where we displayed the benefits through in-app illustrations, which enriched the user's entry touch-point in the application. We incorporated the brand guidelines of the company in a simplistic and fun manner portraying clarity throughout the app by blending it with lighter colours.
