Making IBC transfers from Keplr Wallet to Osmosis DEX
Ok, you’ve already deposited $ATOM into your Keplr wallet, what’s next? You can stake your $ATOM via Keplr, or if you want to explore the broader Cosmos ecosystem, you can move the assets to other Cosmos chains via IBC (Inter-Blockchain Communication).
A very popular chain in the Cosmos ecosystem is Osmosis. Osmosis is the biggest DEX in Cosmos (by market cap) and a great place to do either swap, provide liquidity, and many more. In this guide, we will show you how to send your $ATOM to Osmosis.
Prerequisites
- Create Keplr Wallet
- Get your Osmosis address
- Open Keplr extension
- Change the network to Osmosis
- Click on the address below your account name to get your Osmosis address
Step 1: Send $ATOM to Osmosis
- Since we are going to send $ATOM (Cosmos Hub) tokens, let’s change the network back to Cosmos Hub
- Select [Transfer]
- Fill out the field;
Destination chain: The chain where we would like to make the transfer.
Select chain: Osmosis
Channel ID: channel-141
Recipient: Copy and paste the Osmosis address here.
Memo: Memo is optional, if not sure just leave it blank.
Click [Next]
- Input the $ATOM balance you wish to transfer, and choose the fee
Note: You will need to pay a small fee in $ATOM to approve the transaction. Please make sure you leave some $ATOM for this purpose.
- Click [Submit]
- Double-check the transaction again, if all is correct, then select [Approve]
- It’s done! Welcome to the Cosmos ecosystem.
Step 2: Check your $ATOM balance on Osmosis
- Open https://app.osmosis.zone/
- Connect your Keplr Wallet on Osmosis
- Your wallet will look like this if it is successful.
- Click on the [Asset] tab
- Your $ATOM balance should be here on Osmosis
Note: That’s all! It is recommended to start by using small amounts if you are a first-time user. Try sending more as you gain experience with Keplr.
