A lot said that Mimon targets particularly the white collar females, including young graduates & housewives, producing the so-called “Toxic Chicken Soup” (In Chinese, chicken soup refers to those self-help shit in general)

Intellectuals & Government alike, criticizing Mimon has become one of the must-do for being political correct, and it’s easy to see why.

However, did they try to understand Mimon before criticizing?

I argue that,

Regarding topics on Parent-Child Relationships & Feminism, Mimon has her contribution to the society

Feminism

Mimon’s articles are often about sex, love and marriage, and the conclusion mostly centers around these two ideas

1, Women need to be strong: learn how to deal with jerks and mother in law, earn their own money, treat themselves well …
ex: Wife should live like being a mistress

2, What true love really is (basically the same as all possible love stories)
ex: Marriage is not the end of love, being bored is

In particular, her opinions regarding domestic violence, cheating husbands & work life balance of women are the most evident feminist ideas.

Mimon lashed out at celebrity cheating his wife, producing three articles:
the first one deplores those blaming the wife for a cheating husband,
the second tries to identify loyal men that never cheat
the third criticizes the chauvinism of parents against their daughter

Here’s another one condemning those putting the blame on the wife when domestic violence happened.

Indeed, China being a developing country, with quite some traditional chauvinist thinkings from the past, what Mimon has done is at least a bit educating.

This is her article when a pregnant woman Jump Off the window, killing both herself and the baby, because family members denied her right to do a C-section, allegedly, lamenting on that men should understand more about the pain of giving birth to a child

Apparently, China has a long way to go for feminist ideas.

Parent-Child Relationships

Mimon often writes about how to raise kids, including

1, treating kids equally, no matter young & old, boys & girls,
2, whether one should threaten kids or even hit them up when kids have done something wrong,
3, do parents have power to decide the future of their kids
… etc

One might argue there’s never the right way to raise a kid at all, not mentioning Culture being a difference after all.

Still,

One gotta admit that there are problems with the Chinese way of raising kids, whether Mimon is right on this is another topic, though.
