So the Redbubble news is out and probably by now you must have read the sudden changes to the fee structure.

I sold a T-shirt with an Artist margin of $6 and now after a sudden change, I am getting $3.

Well, this is a very common thing, right?

My previous experience with other marketplaces -

I have been on KDP and even on Etsy. And there you will see the same.

KDP brought a rule where sellers will be charged for the download of their ebooks.

Etsy has fees for uploading the list.

Wait and see when all marketplaces will slowly and gradually increase their fees. But not to get frustrated at this. Accept it and find solutions for yourself.

Marketplaces will always make changes to their rules and regulations and fee structure to make money. No money then no marketplaces. Simple.

But we, as artists/small business owners need to find ourselves a better solution.

When Marketplace chance rules, don’t beg. find a solution

I was watching a YouTuber’s video who used to sell on Redbubble. And she mentioned that she was selling through Squarespace now.

There are many such examples where sellers have found solutions for themselves. There is no need to wait for any marketplace to change their rules just for you.

Solutions -

  1. Different POD sites like Zazzle, Society6, TeePublic, Displate
  2. Built a commerce site from scratch like Squarespace and Shopify and integrated Pritnfy into it. SquareSpace has zero transaction fees in one of its tiers.
