Never give up… My Honest Opinion on the Job Search

In the world of job hunting, persistence is often the key to success. Over a span of just 2–3 months, I interviewed with an astounding 52 different companies. Yes, you read that right.

This was my approach which may seem unconventional, but it yielded valuable insights:

1. To begin with, I deliberately applied to companies that weren’t at the top of my priority list. These initial interviews were, honestly, a bit rough. However, they served as invaluable practice, helping me refine my interview techniques and strategies.
2. Interviews can be nerve-wracking, but remember, they’re designed to be challenging. Focus on the task at hand and consider using resources like pramp.com for practice.
3. It’s crucial to understand that each company has its unique interview patterns. Never go into an interview unprepared. Always take the time to familiarize yourself with the company and be prepared to talk with recruiters.
4. I experienced 7 interviews where I was expecting the next round of interview or an offer as I had excelled in coding, behavioral, and also had a descent design interview round, yet I received rejection emails every morning. Some companies had already found more experienced candidates, while others didn’t disclose feedback. Learn to move on quickly.
5. Throughout this process, I applied to 30–40 companies daily, utilizing various resources. It’s exhausting, but showing enthusiasm for the company is important when communicating with recruiters.

So, when the job hunt feels like an uphill battle, remember, it’s not you; it’s the current circumstances. Persistence, practice, and adaptability are your best allies in this journey.

I’m not claiming to have been flawless in managing my emotions throughout this process. However, I believe these are valuable insights I wish I had known sooner rather than later. I hope this helps someone who is currently walking a similar path.
