There was once a great mother, who lived in a house.
Her children were small, ‘round the size of a mouse.
She wore a small necklace, all round little pearls.And her sleeves were done up, in cream colored curls.
“Yet fear the dark, do you not?” Twas asked of her.
“Fear the dark?” Replied she. “Why is it that I should fear the dark, when tis the dark that ought fear me?”

Who and what has influenced your thinking about teaching…
It is portrayed in advertisements, the news, and in movies; white people hiking, backpacking, paddling, and climbing. People of color apparently just “don’t do” the outdoors. Or at the very least they aren’t “supposed to.” Finney (2014) gives an example of this in the very beginning…
I shouldn’t have to be perfect to live.
We want to catch the bad guy.
