Yellow Barhi dates
A sweetness like butterscotch
melting on my tongue
The rainbow crosswalks
in city intersections
are bridges of love.
Raindrops on the roof
fall gently with a rhythm
singing to my soul.
Long highway stretches
Melanie seductively
crooning in our ears
Burnt honey ice cream
topped with crunchy honeycomb
The magic of bees.
Tick-tock. As the clock
and the long work week winds down
a cocktail awaits.
Bookshelves full of books
but never quite enough time
to revel in them.
This pink little fluff
will forever remind me
time never stands still.
Pink and white blossoms
pepper the old city streets
signaling it’s Spring
Their boot prints faded
on the Normandy beaches
We honor lives lost.
