Not a person who loves to be the center of attention

Hello writers and readers!

I must admit I was prompted to write an About Me piece. I ordinarily don’t like to be the center of attention. I love to give attention to others. I spend so much time on Medium it’s obvious I love giving attention to language and writing about anything and everything. So, let’s talk story.

I’m the firstborn child of two people who met and fell in love in California. My dad was in the Air Force and my mom who was born in Kauai was going to school in California.

I was born in Louisiana which is also the birth state of my dad and my brother. My dad was also stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base. From there, life took us to Idaho, Kauai, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Missouri. Since we moved frequently, having a real concept of “home” was an interruption that I still don’t know today. While I live in Missouri, I see Kauai as a pretty close second to home since I have so many relatives there. My children and grandchildren are in Missouri. They are my concept of home.

For three decades, I worked in law firms as a legal secretary and paralegal. The last law firm that employed me was probably the best place for me to work before leaving. I retired early to write full-time, a passion I’ve…
