About Me — Samantha Hodder
Writer, decade-long podcast producer, story geek, mom, gardener
I’m the daughter of a plumber, my family roots are from rural Northern Ontario, born in Toronto, and now live here and raise my three kids with my husband. I love winter and I’m outside whenever I can be. This past winter I enjoyed skating on a frozen pond in the park near me. In the summer, I crave a tent, remote wilderness, granite table rock with some great lake swimming.
When I was about 10-years-old, I accidentally discovered what it meant to be a writer. I was running home for lunch through the empty schoolyard, when a thing, an uncontrollable urge, hit me.
The air was crisp and there was dew on the grass. I was leaping and dancing my way through the long grass-filled schoolyard when all of a sudden, I had the feeling that I wasn’t alone. A phrase landed inside me and it told me that it was the opening sentence of a story. “Rainbow Guy ran out, smelling the beauty of the lilac’s fragrance.” Woah, I thought. I actually stopped and looked around, for him.
