Hi there!
I’m glad you stopped by.
I’m not very good at answering ‘About Me’ questions, and I didn’t want this to sound mechanical, like a resume or too personal. But I’m here to share a little bit about myself.
I believe parts of who I am naturally find their way into my writing. I have always thought that you can often sense a writer through their words.
My name is Shauqueen, and that’s my first name. It’s Persian, given to me by my paternal grandfather, who was a Persian and Urdu scholar. He believed that a name distinguishes a person and carries a sense of who they are.
For a long time, I didn’t like my name. It was difficult for others to understand or pronounce, and as a child, I remember standing up in classrooms every time my name was called. I only began to appreciate it in my thirties.
By the way, I’m a writer, a millennial mom to three wonderful kids, based in India. I hold an engineering degree in Information Technology, along with a postgraduate diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication.
I worked as a journalist for several years, writing and editing news stories that I truly enjoyed, though they often left me mentally…
