What Made an Engineer and Accountant Become a Novelist?
My name is Trevor D’Silva. I am an engineer, accountant, and copywriter by education. A former college professor, logistician, and currently an author by profession. I’ve worn many hats during the many years I’ve been on this earth.
People are usually surprised to hear I have three engineering degrees and one in accounting, and I write historical fiction novels. So far, I’ve written two novels, several short stories (published and unpublished), and articles. My third novel is currently a work in progress.
So, why would a person who busted his behind to get three engineering degrees, two of them being graduate degrees be interested in history, write novels, and screenplays? The fact is it has always been in me. I grew up in a family, that never acknowledged my talents or any interests I had. Thankfully, some do now. I was always the odd one out because I had different interests and talents from the rest making me feel like an outsider. What I mean is, nobody else in my family can write a novel or short story from scratch.
But anyway, like a good Catholic boy, I obeyed and got these degrees because I was told that they would get me a good job and open many opportunities later in life. The end result of all that is, I’m not doing…
