Fostering Hope and Success: A Social Pedagogue’s Reflection on Motivation in Education
Balancing professionalism and personal connections
As both a social pedagogue and a mother of three sons, my daily life revolves around nurturing relationships and empowering the individuals I work with. In this context, I’ve also had the privilege of working with children diagnosed with NDD (Neurodevelopmental Disorders). But more importantly, my journey has taught me that motivation is not a solitary concept confined to a classroom. It’s a shared endeavor, a connection that brings together teachers, parents, students, and all those involved in the educational and social sphere.
Understanding Motivation: A Journey Beyond the Classroom
Motivation, as a central concept in pedagogical work, has a particular weight in teaching students who are facing challenges and within therapeutic contexts. People’s explanations for successes and failures and the significance of expectations are especially focused. But it is essential to recognize that motivation isn’t solely an individual trait; it’s a result of one’s experiences and the way one is treated.
