About Me — Stevi-Lee Alver
A Newbie’s Introduction
Hello, fellow readers and writers! My name is Stevi-Lee Alver, and I am a Medium newbie.
Until four days ago, I didn’t know Medium existed.
‘Have you been living under a rock?’ they ask.
‘Well, to be honest, I kinda have.’
But, I’m here now. So, hi!
I am an Australian writer. I write fiction and poetry. Although, I also dabble in creative non-fiction and writing about writing.
For the past few months, I’ve been on a social media sabbatical. That is to say, I’ve been off the scroll.
What have I been doing? Writing.
It took five years to sculpt my manuscript into the shape its in today. It’s not finished. Not by a long shot. Did I mention I am a perfectionist? I only now feel confident to send the manuscript to a literary agent.
Five years of blood, sweat, tears, procrastination and back burners.
Those five years taught me a tremendous amount about writing a novel and writing in general.
Namely, what not to do! I can tell you exactly How Not to Write a Novel.
That’s what I plan on sharing with the Medium community.
Like most of you, I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. But over the past ten years, my writing has been winning awards and getting published.
I’m not going to bang on too much about my writing experience, because that would be boring! But, if you’re curious, here’s a link to my CV.
I am here to share tips, advice and stories on writing. And, of course, my creative work.
I plan on reading as much, and as widely, as possible.
This platform had me at hello.
I crawled out from under my rock and dove head first into Medium. I’m happy doggie paddling around in circles here.
But with your help I could start swimming. Or else… perhaps, I’ll sink. That’s okay too, it wouldn’t be the first time.
To join the Medium Partner Program, I need to gain 100 followers.
To date, I have a grand total of one follower. Thank you,
If you want to help me reach my first Medium goal, give me a follow and I’ll return the favour!
More about me: I am also a tattoo and mural artist. You can see some of my work here.
In 2019, I quit my nine-to-five and started tattooing full-time (fun fact: I’m a great quitter).
In 2020, I opened Lismore’s first female-owned tattoo studio. It was a wild ride and, hands-down, one of the best experiences of my life.
In December 2021 I sold the business. In 2022, I moved back to Brazil.
Yes, I live in Brazil. I speak scrambled Portuguese. I eat pamonha and pequi.
