Why do I write?

Honest thoughts on my decision to start a Medium page.

I never believed in the idea that writing could give clarity to my thoughts. On the contrary, I thought that my thoughts already had clarity in my head and writing them down wouldn’t make it clearer.

That’s when I started asking a question to myself.

Why do I write?

Do I write to feel better about myself?

Is it to show the world how I think and process emotions?

Is it to feel validated from strangers on the internet?

I entertained these questions along with a million others while fancying the idea of writing on Medium.

Words are the finest medium through which humans can relate to each other. Be it the stories, films, plays and anything and everything that’s available to you. It was first written down by someone.

What if it only existed as a thought ?

In that case, there is a good probability that the world wouldn’t be same. Thoughts give birth to ideas and ideas change the world.

An idea becomes an action when you share it with the world.

Words have the power to liberate people, no wonder they say that “The Pen is mightier than the sword.”

I don’t know how much you’ll be able to relate to the idea of writing on pen and paper. What I have realized over the years is that when it comes to writing, it doesn't matter if you write it down on paper or type it using a gadget.

It always boils down to two questions.

Why do you write? and What are you trying to tell the world?

Every time I read something, I get transported into the mind of the person who wrote it. I get to see how they view the world around them.

It can be polarized, vague, skewed and very different or similar to how you see the world. It’s liberating to see the world through someone’s eyes.

Suddenly everything feels different. And it will never be the same.

There maybe thousands and if not millions of writers out there in the world, who can write better than you.

But what makes you and I different are the eyes through which we see the world. You lend your vision to someone every time they read something you wrote. That’s the reason that I want to write.
