How a Six-Sided Die Can Help You Tame Your To Do List

--

There are tons of ways for you to tackle your to-do list on a daily basis. That fact alone can be paralyzing.

Here’s a simple low-tech trick you can use to tame your to-do list when it’s long and you can’t decide what you should do right out of the gate.

  1. Grab a six-sided die.
  2. Assign the numbers one through six to six tasks on your to-do list.
  3. Roll the die.
  4. Whatever number comes up, work on that task first.
  5. Assign the used number to another new task.
  6. Repeat steps three through five until you either have no further tasks to do or have wrapped up your day.

Sure, there are other ways to tame your to-do list, but you can use this technique in tandem with things like The Pomodoro Technique or working by project, if you want.

The aim of this trick is to get you out of your own way and moving forward. Oddly enough, by leveraging a tool used in games of chance, you end up leaving less of completing the items on your to-do list to chance.

Happy rolling!
