tezblock Receives Tezos Foundation Grant
The Tezos Foundation awarded Papers, the team behind the secure crypto wallet AirGap, a grant for the development of tezblock. An accessible and meaningful block explorer for Tezos.
With this grant we can take the next step from an initial concept to a Minimal Viable Product. The concept and the thoughts behind it have been published tezblock — A Tezos Block Explorer Concept and tezblock — A Tezos Block Explorer Concept Part 2.
What is tezblock?
tezblock is a Tezos block explorer with the focus on making the Tezos protocol more accessible and delivering the data with a meaningful approach. Essentially stripping everything bloated away, displaying only the necessary data for the end user in a cleaner and more modern way.
User Focused
We want to take a user focused approach with tezblock and build this explorer according to user feedback. Block explorers are being used by different user groups with various requirements.
Meaningful Data
Not every last piece of data from the node is relevant all the time. We want to ensure that only the relevant data is being display and the rest is abstracted to avoid overcrowding.
Open Source
The tezblock code will be open source with an MIT license and available at latest from the release of the MVP. We encourage the community to actively contribute to the development or reuse the code.
Self-Deployable
You shouldn’t have to rely on a hosted version of tezblock if you don’t want to, we will provide documentation that you can easily spin up your own instance of tezblock and get the same data.
Onwards To The MVP
In order to iterate as quickly as possible and provide a first version for the ecosystem to try out, an MVP will be developed with a landing page, account details, blocks and transactions.
The requirements engineering is already in full swing, in the next week we will continue to take a closer look at:
- Evaluating existing Tezos protocol indexer
- Block explorer user survey
- User testing of initial Mockups
The development progress will be communicated on a regular basis.
tezblock In The Near Future
After completing the MVP and laying solid ground work we will work on improving the block explorer and brining new features like Governance insights, more detailed baker data and much more.
