Recently we wrote about Alloy’s plans for the next chapter. As we made clear then, we remain committed to making available Alloy’s tools and technology to the broader Democratic and progressive ecosystem. Moreover, we have been exploring those options in a way consistent with our data principles, and with ensuring that our work remains radically affordable and radically accessible.

Today we’re excited to announce that we’ve begun to explore with Civitech how we may plan to transfer our innovative data platforms and technology and expand on our partnership to carry on our shared mission of building a stronger democracy. The integration of Alloy’s Source and Verify products into Civitech’s existing suite of digital campaign tools would be a powerful enhancement of Civitech’s data and mobilization services and drive innovation in voter outreach — particularly in down ballot races including the more than 100,000 local elections happening in 2021.

Civitech was one of our 60 partners throughout the 2020 election cycle and dozens of their users already leveraged Alloy data this year. As a public benefit corporation, Civitech builds solutions and tools for candidates, nonprofits, and state and local governments to engage voters and has the capacity to take Alloy technology, and ensure it continues to serve our shared goals consistent with our values.

Together, we’re exploring the following areas:

  • Technology to be licensed including Alloy products and processes.
  • A commitment by Civitech to keeping Alloy data assets and tools radically affordable and radically accessible.
  • A mutual commitment to sharing learnings and best practices with the broader progressive tech ecosystem.

We’re excited to enter into negotiations with Civitech as potential stewards of Alloy’s technology, and that our initial engagement has been grounded in a mutual commitment to keeping Alloy products radically affordable and accessible to the entire ecosystem.

We’ll have more details in the coming weeks, but we’ll continue to maintain Alloy’s core products through January.

In solidarity,

The Alloy Team
