The King of Fruits

In Southeast Asia, durian is regarded as “the king of fruits”. This is a fruit you love or hate.

At this point the worst fruit I’ve tasted is papaya — to me it smells like dirty socks. The smell of durian is so offensive to some that it is banned from being brought…

Angkor Wat

The time for the first milestone of my trip had come. This ancient Hindu temple I had heard of, somewhere in Cambodia. It was the first image in my head when I embarked on my journey to Southeast Asia. And I was now here in Siem Reap to experience it.

Battambang

Before heading to Ankgor Wat, I decide to head north to a small town named Battambang, while Dev chooses to go down south to the beaches of Sihanoukville. This is the first time I’m traveling alone since the start of the backpacking trip.

Bombing of Laos and Cambodia

While in Vientienne, Laos, a fellow traveller recommended visiting a small museum called COPE. It ended up being an educational and emotional experience.

Ankur’s 2nd Mundan

I’ve reached the first pinnacle of my trip: seeing Ankgor Wat. The temples of Ankgor are a blend of Hinduism and Buddhism, two cultures I connect with on different levels. I’ll write more about the Ankgor temples in another post.
