I told you in my previous post how well we were doing in the Europa League, defeating along the way some overall superior sides.

But if every good thing comes to an end I have to admit that we imploded badly losing to a very beatable Koln team, it wasn’t a tactical problem though, poor men management caused that slump.

Dynamics here played a major role and if I often tend to ignore some of the new features added, this time I’ve been punished for that.

In February three of my most influential players started to moan asking for new contracts: Niederlechner (St), Ravet (right winger) and Soyuncu (Dc), I wasn’t ready to offer what they wanted and this provoked a sort of mutiny where almost all the team supported them and as a result our performance vs. Koln was abysimal in both legs.

Social groups killed me softly!

Some weeks later, after I opened the pocket and the unrest was sedated we played again vs. Koln again, this time in a league game, and we simply destroyed them, tough lesson learned, but this feature looks a bit overpowered after the last patch.

If the disappointment was huge, somehow we were capable to put together some nice performances in our final Bundesliga games, adding more terrific wins to an already brilliant season.

Bayern Munich were unstoppable, ruling the league and giving no chances to other clubs, as supposed there’s a huge gap and we’ll have to improve a lot to properly challenge them for the title, for now we are proud with this 4th place that means we’ll be in the Uefa Champions League next season, for the first time in the history of SC Freiburg.

2017.18 Bundesliga final table

We have the best attacking record after Bayern Munich (64 goals) and some exciting young players who could develop well here without too much pressure: Adzic, Arana (who joined in January for 2.5 M), Koch, Kapustka, Stenzel, Joveljic etc…

Next season board requirements and budget:

  • Bundesliga: top half finish
  • UCL: reach group stage
  • Budget: 17 M for transfers & 30 M for wages
