Trust, according to the Cambridge dictionary, is to believe that someone is good and honest and will not harm you, or that something is safe and reliable. It is the foundation of any relationship — personal relationships, work collaborations, or business partnerships. Some say that you build trust along the way of growing the relationship. Others say that you enter the relationship starting with the baseline of trust. How about you, where do you start?

This month’s newsletter is packed with ‘trust’ stories and tips to takeaway and practice in your partnerships, both potential and existing. Trust us, you will learn a lot from this!

Trust in Me: How to Build Trust in Collaborations

Trust is crucial as a foundation in a team. Only when trust exists are team members able to focus their attention fully on the task at hand, rather than being strategically political in the group. A “high level of trust” is one of the key components for collaboration, but work collaborations with external partners do not allow for a lot of time to establish trust. The equation gets further complicated when partners are geographically distant, or are from vastly different domains, with very different cultural contexts. Here’s an article by Mala Rajpal, a good friend of the Hub, on 6 ways to build trust in a collaboration or partnership.

Webinar — More than the sum of its parts: maximising partnership value creation

Partnering is an essential human instinct. We partner because we feel that by aligning and combining our resources with others, we can achieve more than we ever could alone. That is why partnering is at the very heart of the Sustainable Development Goals and a driving force in disaster preparedness, resilience and humanitarian action.

In this webinar, join experienced practitioners from across the sectors to discuss The Partnering Initiative’s new framework (developed with World Vision) and guidebook (with UNDESA) that allows systematic examination and maximisation of partnership value creation.
