Asure Founders visiting Africa
According to our research, we have found that 4.1 billion people have no access to social security systems and most of them are in Africa. So we took it for granted that we had to go to Africa to talk to people there.
The founders of the Asure Foundation (Fabian Raetz, Gamal Schmuck and Paul Mizel) have been invited to Uganda for the 8th East Africa Blockchain & Cyber Security Conference and have immediately created a plan for the visit to talk to more people, entrepreneurs and authorities.
Day 1 — 8th East Africa Blockchain & Cyber Security Conference
At the conference, we had the opportunity to present various topics around blockchain, social security and cybersecurity from the perspective of the Asure.network.
Day 2 — Visiting FACOM Farm
We had the opportunity to visit an example farm of FACOM and to talk to the realization partners about supply chain with the help of the blockchain for the farming industry in Uganda.
Day 3 — Hult Prize at the International University of East Africa
At the Hult Prize Competition, the “Nobel Prize for Students”, our CEO Paul Mizel gave the keynote speech before the competition started.
Day 4 — National Social Security Fund (NSSF) Uganda
The pension system for Uganda is administered by NSSF, so we wanted to talk to the authorities in Uganda to understand the challenges they face.
Conclusion
It was a culture shock in a positive sense, the people are open and very hospitable and try to push the economic development in Africa, this offers great opportunities for blockchain potential which can support and improve the economy in Africa.
This was a very successful trip to Uganda.
