The effect that COVID-19 has had on the Australian economy is devastating, particularly on the live entertainment sector. As an industry that fundamentally operates on real-life human connection and interaction, both workers and punters are feeling the fallout.

It’s been uplifting to see the live music and arts community come together and adapt to this new way of life, however we are looking at ways to continue extending a helping hand to individuals affected by this crisis — from artists to creatives to agency workers.

Enter Bolster Buddies. We initially created this program for International Women’s Day 2019 as a resource for women/non binary people looking for a push in the right direction. We paired people with our diverse team for a chat about our industries and to provide some guidance on how to get a leg-up wherever they’re headed.

The response we had was overwhelmingly positive, so we opened up the Bolster Buddies program soon after for anyone who was keen to have a chat. Since then, we’ve seen some wonderful pairings across digital, design, web development and content that were uplifting, interesting and inspiring for both parties.

If this global crisis has left you feeling a bit lost, and you want to have a (virtual) coffee with a Bolster Buddy for inspiration, guidance, a laugh or to hear our career stories — we’d love to hear from you.

Students, interns, juniors and those mid-career are all welcome to apply. You’ll walk away caffeinated (🙌), having learned something new (🙌 🙌) and with the satisfaction of networking from isolation (🙌 🙌 🙌).
