Social Media QOTD: When Is the Best Time to Post to Social Media?
The short answer: When you’re online and ready to engage.
I know that’s not the answer you were expecting, but it’s completely true. When it comes to growing a social media following, you should avoid “posting and ghosting”, or posting and immediately logging off.
Why?
Because engagement is more important than posting at a specific time and day.
It tells the algorithm that you’re a real human and you’re using the app for its intended purpose, which is to be social and talk with friends and followers.
When you engage with other posts after you post, it notifies people following those posts, bringing them back to the app where they can view your post.
The key to ensuring you have the time and energy to post and engage means planning.
Schedule 30–60 minutes into your week for dedicated social media engagement, which includes commenting on other posts responding to comments on your posts and DMs.
Here are some of my favorite ways to engage online:
- Post a story or poll question to encourage engagement
- Share your post and make the first comment
- Respond to recent comments and mentions
