You begin your sweaty climb up the crawlspace ladder, and Eshami follows your lead thankfully. Within minutes, the temperature cools considerably, and you’re pleased that you chose this route.

After a lengthy ascent, you find an open hatch set into the wall beside the ladder, and you peer out.

It is a long hallway. The lights flicker but it looks deserted. And it is far more spacious than the crawlspace or the ladder gangway.

“Up here,” you whisper down to Eshami before you swing your legs over the leading edge of the hatch and pull yourself in. You spin around and help your elven companion through the hatch as well, and for a moment you both rest and catch your breath.

You walk cautiously along the corridor until you finally round a corner. Beyond is another long hallway.

“Ketal, I’m all turned around. Is this the way to the Control Room?”

Ketal’s comforting image spins up out of the floor. “Affirmative. Take the first hall to your right.”

You take up your blade and press onward. “Let’s go, Eshami.”
