This is a ‘choose your own’ fiction story, “drabble edition”. The whole thing begins with ‘The Burned Village’ by JF Danskin. You can also head back to the previous chapter, ‘Fake’ by P. L. Goaway. Or find out how to contribute to the ongoing story here.

You’ve had enough of this guy. As you dismiss his attempt to strike a deal, you see red.

You spin, pulling your axe loose. Fear and stress are turning to anger.

“Listen, up, fool,” you snap, stepping closer. “I’ve had a bad day. My village has been burned to cinders by a gang of orcs. They’ve taken my family. And all I wanted was a quick, fair trade, and to buy armor.”

As you close in, the moneychanger raises up his wooden club. “Wait! I can help you. I know something. Your old enemy, Zaroph, was behind the orc attack...”

You decide to:

  1. Press home your attack (click here).
  2. Stop, and ask him more about Zaroph (click here).

This is a collaborative story. Please feel free to join in and add a chapter, furthering the story in any way you like. Each main part of the story (not including choices and blurb) should be a 100-word drabble. Or drop suggestions in the comments!
