Yesterday, a Citizen Notification Brought Me Peace of Mind
When danger is close, Citizen’s Inner Circle keeps our loved ones even closer
Yesterday, I received a Citizen notification informing me that my niece, Tiffany, was just 600 ft away from an incident in Queens where a man was fatally shot, because we follow each other using a feature called Inner Circle.
I immediately reached out to Tiffany and her mother to find out if she was okay. Tiffany responded in seconds, letting me know she was safe and unharmed. Citizen, with instant access to this information, kept me informed during a situation that could have ended much, much differently.
As Community Manager at Citizen, I lead a team that introduces the Citizen to the public by way of education and demonstration of safe and useful ways to integrate the Citizen safety network into our lives. As one of the first ten Citizen users, I’ve witnessed on many occasions Citizen’s impact on not only my immediate community of Jamaica, Queens, but many neighborhoods throughout the three cities where Citizen is now operating.
My daughter, who lives in Baltimore, Maryland — where we launched exactly 15 days ago — was initially reluctant to download the app. But after experiencing Citizen first-hand, she now speaks out about how much safer and more informed she feels as she works, lives, and navigates her city.
A decade ago, my nephew was shot 6 times and I was completely unaware and unable to react as he headed to the Emergency Room. I know what life was like before Citizen allowed for instant updates for emergency situations.
The greatest tool in the world is a tool that allow us the ability identify, locate, and act during emergency situations near, or involving our loved ones.
I am so thankful my niece is ok.
Citizen instantly sends safety alerts directly to your phone whenever significant crime or emergencies happen near you.
