Being new to crypto feels like drowning in the sea without knowing how to swim. We know it since we’ve all been there. Information comes at you from every direction. There’s so much to learn and catch up on. It’s overwhelming.

But, we’ve got you covered. Below is a list of curated crypto knowledge utopia for anyone. Since this space moves fast and contents are global, feel free to suggest any additions (or deletions). We are more than happy to revise our curated list! Crowdsourcing for the win.

Crypto Knowledge Utopia

Medium

Since crypto is very nascent, new developments are being created every day. Medium is a common tool for the community to preach their ideas and grow followers.

Beginner’s Guide

Linda Xie, “Beginner’s Guide Queen”, became well-known partly because of her role as an Advisor to 0x. She quit Coinbase and co-founded a $20 million venture fund, Scalar Capital. Although she’s no longer active on Medium, her past posts are still gold for crypto projects’ overview.

Jimmy Song wears many hats, not even counting his signature cowboy hat! He is a Bitcoin developer, educator, and entrepreneur. His posts will get you lukewarm to crypto and his coding course will get you smashing at blockchain programming.

The Coder Goddess, Preethi Kasireddy makes complex technical topics digestible for non-tech readers. Find out more in her piece about How Ethereum works. In addition, Nathan Sexer often gives a great overview of a vertical landscape and Josh Stark writes about Ethereum and crypto economics. His piece on scaling solution drew much attention as he outlines economic mechanisms and the common insights shared between all layer 2 technologies.

Tech

Vitalik Buterin (of course), Brian Armstrong, Will Warren, and Rocco often use their blogs to uncover complex product and technical developments. Meanwhile, Hackernoon syndicates curated content written about software.

Investment

“Poker Face” Haseeb Qureshi is one of the most interesting guys you’ll meet. He became a millionaire at the age of 19 from playing Texas Hold’em. Then, he was denounced from the community and found himself writing a book, meditating, entering a coding boot camp and finally became a software engineer and, later a crypto investor. How is that for a biography? His posts are even more interesting to read than his background as he debates controversial topics, such as We already know blockchain’s killer apps, which triggered a debate if SHA256 will be exploited by quantum computing.

Fred Ehrsam, Arjun Balaji and Nick Tomaino are also worth following. They share VC perspectives on token value creation, market narratives, and investment theses. And if crypto asset valuation is what you’re after, check out Chris Burniske and Nic Carter.

We were debating hard on whether we should feature Vinny Lingham, “Civic Founder”. We must admit that the holidays he took from actually running Civic are paying off in his writings, which are mostly about Bitcoin bubbles, Bitcoin forks, and token value. A real-life showcase that a good writer != a good founder.

Twitter

We can’t have a complete curated list without Crypto Twitter (“CT”), a source of truth and debate among thought leaders in the space. Jack Dorsey, Twitter Founder, himself is also a crypto fan!

Price

If you’re into the technical analysis (which, unfortunately, we don’t), check out Luke Martin and Josh Rager. Do let us know if it works and who’s more insightful. Happy to tweak our list as we’re no experts here!

Tech & Founders

Nick Szabo, “Blockchain Brainchild”, created Bit Gold, which was the first feasible proposal of a decentralized financial network, in 1998. Although the project was never implemented, it’s regarded as being a precursor to Satoshi Nakamoto’s Bitcoin Protocol.

Elizabeth Stark (Lightning bolt), Charlie Lee (little Satoshi), Arvind Narayanan (data de-anonymization), Eric Meltzer (PoW), Zooko (Zzzzz-cash), Muneeb Ali (Blockstack) and Andreas Antonopoulos (the master of Mastering Bitcoin) are also working hard to push the boundaries of distributed system technology.

Meanwhile, Erik Voorhees (ShapeShift), Balaji Srinivasan (21, Earn, now CTO @Coinbase), Ryan Selkis (Messari), Mike Karnjanaprakorn (Otis), and Maltem Demirors (CSO @CoinShares) are bringing the technology to the everyday people.

Meme

Research and development won’t have any demand without the people who help grow the community through viral contents. Meet the Crypto Meme Kings: Neeraj Agrawal (Communications Director for Coin Center) and Crypto Bobby (Podcaster).

VCs

As a fixture of Silicon Valley, Naval Ravikant, “Mr. Done It All”, helped push the JOBS act which paved ways for ICOs to be considered a legal way of fundraising. He founded AngelList, CoinList and MetaStable Capital, and invested in Twitter, Uber, Yammer, Stack Overflow, Wanelo and more! If you can only spend a few minutes reading something, it has to be his tweet.

Spencer Bogart (Blockchain Capital), Linda Xie (Scalar Capital), Ari Paul (Block Tower), Haseeb Qureshi (Metastable Capital), Dovey Wan (Primitive Ventures), Ali Yahya (A16Z Crypto), and Tuur Demeester (Adamant Capital) often tweet their insights on hotly debated issues.

BTC Family

Proponents of Bitcoin (the so-called Bitcoin Maximalists) and the likes are those who look down upon alternative use cases outside the domain of Bitcoin; i.e. Ethereum, Litecoin, even your beloved Dogecoin! Vitalik said Bitcoin Maximalism is the idea that an environment of multiple competing cryptocurrencies is undesirable, that it is wrong to launch “yet another coin”.

This group includes Preston Byrne, Pierre Rochard, Murad Mahmudov, Jameson Lopp, Gavin Andresen, and let’s not forget Roger Ver, “Bitcoin-Cash Jesus”.

ETH Camp

Let’s enter a land with no drama (yet), do follow CryptoJesus, Vlad Zamfir, Jon Choi, and Vitalik Buterin, “Giver of eth”, for Ethereum updates. Little do we know that before Vitalik’s breakthrough, he had been a lead writer for Bitcoin Magazine, the first serious publication dedicated for cryptocurrencies, and Ledger, a peer-reviewed journal that publishes research about blockchain. Tweet him and he may actually send you some eth despite being a non-giver of eth!

Moving on from opinion pieces, these are selected news source for your daily consumption.

Podcast

Next are 6 snooze-worthy podcasts you’re allowed to fall asleep to (in case you so wish to consume crypto info in your sleep).

Laura Shin’s Unchained podcast gives you rare access to hear from thought leaders in the industry. While her questions are tough, they do offer unique insights from the usual podcasts.

Epicenter and Crypto Voices focus on technologists and will help you understand new concepts and developments in the blockchain world.

Let’s Talk Bitcoin was launched in 2013. They quickly became a premiere podcast in the Bitcoin space. This has led them to launch their very own tokenized podcasting platform, the LTB Network.

For the wild wild west of crypto trading and ICO content, you can visit Coin Mastery and Crypto 101.

Youtube

Since our interest is not to pump up ICOs or talk about short-term token prices, only Andreas M. Antonopoulos comes to our mind for the best Youtuber in crypto. He authored the groundbreaking book, Mastering Bitcoin, The Internet of Money and Mastering Ethereum. Without him, crypto would still be a black box for people outside the space.

Newsletter
