VG Basic Tutorial for Beginners — Creating a Kulupu Wallet [Updated]
So, were you interested in the Kulupu cryptocurrency and want to create a wallet? Follow the steps below to create your wallet.
In this tutorial, we will be using the polkadot-js web wallet. But, if you parachuted here and don’t know what Kulupu, Polkadot, and Substrate are, check out this article for more information. But here’s a summary:
Kulupu is a PoW (Proof of Work) cryptocurrency based on Parity Technologies’ Substrate framework. It seeks to be a democratic cryptocurrency with an on-chain governance system and where the community can vote on decisions that will decide the direction of the project. More info here. Without further ado let’s go to the tutorial:
Creating a wallet
1 — Access the website: https://polkadot.js.org/apps/#/explorer through your browser.
2 — Click on the region where the Polkadot icon is.
3 — Select the Kulupu network and then click Switch.
4 — Select the “Accounts” section and click “Add Account”
5 — Give your wallet a name. Save the mnemonic seed and choose a strong password that you can remember. So, next and save. You will need to confirm the password when making transactions.
Save the JSON file that will be generated for download when you press Save, as a precaution, as this will be one of the backup ways too, in case you lose the mnemonic seed.
Sending and Receiving KLP
Receiving
Click on the icon next to the nickname you chose for your wallet to copy your address to the clipboard. Okay, just share your address so people can send KLP to you.
Sending
Click on send and put the address to who you want to send in the “send to address” section. Then click Make Transfer. Enter your password that you entered following the wallet creation tutorial to confirm the transaction.
Faucet
You can find a faucet bot on Discord, in the text channel: #bots to perform “test” transactions for your wallet. Click here to access Discord. At the time of writing the article, the faucet is working, sending 0.01 KLP to the wallet. You can use the faucet once a day.
Well, that’s it. I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and helped you.
