Previously, in How to Delegate Tezos XTZ with Galleon Wallet, we created a Cryptonomic Galleon Wallet from scratch, funded it with XTZ, and made a delegation to a baker. This time, we will be exploring a feature that some XTZ holders might be looking for or will eventually need: to re-delegate or change the baker of the delegation.

Re-Accessing Your Galleon Wallet

For the scope of this article, I will assume that you already installed and created a Galleon Wallet. Else, if you want to start using Galleon, take a look at How to Delegate Tezos XTZ with Galleon Wallet, a step-by-step guide that starts with downloading Galleon until making a delegation with it.

On your device, open Galleon Wallet application.

  1. Click on Open Existing Wallet:

2. You will need the .tezwallet file that you backed-up when you created your Galleon Wallet. After selecting it, enter the wallet password that you chose and click Open:

3. If the details are correct, you will see your wallet dashboard. On the left navigation bar, click on “Delegated Address 1” or the Delegated Address that you wish to modify (if you have more than one delegation):

4. Now you should be able to see the details of your Delegation KT1 address. Click on the Delegate tab on the left:

5. This shows information of what Baker you are currently delegating to, specifically the TZ1 address of the baker. To re-delegate, click on “Change Delegate”:

6. On the “Change Delegate to New Address” field, paste the new baker’s address. When ready, type in your wallet password and click on Change Delegate:

7. You will see the green prompt at the bottom. Note that it might take a couple of minutes until the change of your delegation goes through. Meanwhile, you will still see the old baker address in the KT1 account details.

8. To double-check that the change has been effectively made, take a look at TzScan and search for the KT1 address of your delegation on the search bar:

In the right side of the TzScan page of your KT1 address, you will see the box (as shown in the image) with all the details of this account.

If you scroll down, you will find some details on the account type and, in this case, some details of the delegation.

Once the TZ1 address on the “Delegate” field is the TZ1 address of the new baker, your re-delegation has been successfully made.
