If you’re new to the PT, this monthly post is a roundup of projects using Cosmos, not about Cosmos or Tendermint itself. Tracking the Cosmos ecosystem!

There’s big news this week on projects jumping from Ethereum to Cosmos, or at least moving to using the Tendermint protocol.

Big News & Updates:

Aragon — A major flippening was announced this month as Aragon is moving to build on Cosmos from Ethereum. They aren’t dropping support for Eth yet, but are very concerned that the migration to Eth 2.0 will certainly break some of their smart contracts. This is a big win for the 2.0 platform “wars”.

TruStorylaunched a mobile app! Debate! Discuss! This is a neat idea and it runs on Cosmos. That said, I don’t get the app. UI needs some work even though it looks pretty, and it seems to be a platform built to game. It’s a good iteration though, and I hope they continue refining and promoting it.

THORChain —is prepping for mainnet by rolling out tons of updates front SDK to front-end to building trading integration to deliver their promised product. A fair amount of the work seems to be centered around ensuring that validators and token holders can move and work with their funds as they system is intended to work. They have a lot of testing demos and mock-ups for the community to check out.

THORChain — is also burning 50% of their token supply as a strategy to ensure value of token distribution. It’s an interesting and dramatic hedge against 51%-type attacks.

Regen — is gearing up for their token sale. Completely editorializing: This project has had a ton of press the past few months, so my initial guess is that the sale will be well-received.

Paradigm — continues to knock out updates to their Kosu platform, and has moved their community chat to Discord. They’ve also published several guides to setup testing for Kosu and are doing the documentation work that nobody likes to do, but everybody needs to.

IRISnet — is of course making strides and announced a couple major new developments including multi-asset management, which lays the groundwork for DeFi options. Additionally, they’re building gateways to create stablecoins for apps build on IRISnet, but also one to connect to the Binance DEX.

IRISnet is also working closely with the Cosmos team to build out the Cosmos interchain protocol (IBC), one of the essential components for Cosmos to deliver on the ecosystem of interoperable blockchain mission. IRISnet will be adding a demo of IBC to the Rainbow Wallet.

Lino — has a new branding look on their properties and says they have over 2.5 million accounts. This is pretty amazing for a blockchain play. They released their LINO token that users can access via wallet — It’s how they are rewarding content creators for their streaming content. They are releasing (or re-releasing) their intros, whitepapers, and documentation along with a new technical whitepaper. One to watch.

IOV — is launching its mainnet blockchain. They also have a bunch of supplementary apps, extensions, and wallets — huge congrats getting their entire platform launched. IOV has been doing a fair amount of work explaining how they differ from ENS. It’s a unique niche in the space, but one that will likely be fairly public-facing, so read up on it when you have a min.

Less big (but still cool) news:

Forbole — a well-known validator in Cosmos, is building on their Big Dipper block explorer contribution to bring Desmos, a microblogging tool to the community. Inspired by Twitter, they’re inviting contributors to replace the VC model. They say they want to give early equity to a team rather than to investors. Worth checking out if you have the chops, and their history with contributions to the space is legit.

Edduusis a new-to-me player in the global online education space using crypto and gamification to incentivize teachers and learners. Cypher Core wrote about it here earlier this month, so keep an eye out for more into from this space.

Althea — continues to refine their latency and make their network quality speeds and experiences for users.

Akash — is a new-to-me project bringing compute to Cosmos. They aim to be the Cosmos competitor with AWS, Azure, Google etc. That’s a tall order to compete against, but a nice niche for projects that want to keep their compute distributed.

Vega — announced a $5 million seed raise to up their decentralized margin trading platform.

Minter — announced a couple of updates to their chain, including multi-sig, coin supply limits, and more. Minter hasn’t updated in a while, and it’s been even longer in English, so it’s good to see they’re making progress still.

Summary

These project updates were researched from git repos and project blogs. If you have a project that’s active but not listed here, please reach out to the Cypher Core team to make sure your update is included in future posts. Cypher Core is dedicated to the Cosmos ecosystem and community and is here to help as a validator (delegate ATOM’s with Cypher Core), as well as to help projects solve business needs like getting your project the sunshine it needs to thrive.

Until next time Cosmonauts, keep shipping!
