Big News & Updates:

AltheaAnnounced in April, Althea launched their first network in Africa this month. Africa represents a massive opportunity for democratic community-based ISPs, and has seen huge growth in the past 5 years in tech literacy and developer penetration and education. This is potentially the future J-curve in adoption for Althea.

IOV — Recently opened up preorders for their *starnames. This is a take on the .eth ENS naming, but on Cosmos.

IRISnet — continues to pop out regular, consistent updates to ensure their systems are compatible with Cosmos updates and have small feature upgrades. These includes updates to the Rainbow Wallet, IRIShub (the chain), the IRIS block explorer, partnerships, and social outreach updates.

IRISnet also completed their 3rd token burn, which is used to battle inflation in the system, increase token value for holders and project funding, and be a transparent use of funds. Look here it is 🔥.

Kadena — I straight up missed this last summer. Kadena has its own smart contract language, Pact, that is supposedly better than Solidity, and it is being converted to function on Cosmos. Specifically, it’s a smart contract system for Tendermint. This should allow for interoperable smart contracts across Cosmos, which is huge.

Lino — Lino is moving over to Tron in partnership with Justin Sun. So that was a cool project for a while…¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Minter — This is a weird project. It’s like they are running in a parallel Russian dimension where they’re connected with Cosmos, have almost no rep in English-speaking crypto-Twitter, but have this large following, live active platform with active dapps, and a mass of updates including a new max custom coin supply, weighted multi-sig wallets (up to 32 owners), improvements in blockchain state history (reducing the storage needed to run dapps), added a minimum reserve requirement for custom coins, staking reward optimizations, and other odds and ends.

Minter also hosted a meetup in Moscow with 100 attendees, workshops, presentations, and funding chatter. They also announced Minter 2.0 which is going to include a smart contract system, atomic swaps, and its own API.

Sentinel — has implemented a test staking feature in their app. The app is for a decentralized VPN that runs on the SENT token. Stake & earn & pay in multiple ways. Interesting.

THORChainSold 3.25million RUNE in a sale from their operations reserves to a new investor partner planning on staking as well as boosting their exchange partner program. The devs are implementing versions of sharding solutions to increase scale values over time, they are also refactoring and smoothing out the codebase across all of their products, and tweaking fees to incentivize behaviors they want for staking. They also released a token distribution update which is nice to see how they are modeling their tokenomics if you’re into that.

Less Big (but still cool) updates

BitSong — The decentralized streaming and royalties platform announced their NFTs to be tradeable on OpenMarket, and are one of the few projects that are included in the beta test flight release for a Tendermint staking app on iOS. Mini-demo included.

e-Money — is still active. They’ve announced their tokens as funds available on OpenMarket as currency for NFTs. OpenMarket is popping up a bit this month. Looks like they got a bizdev rep hired and rolling.

FOAM — FOAM had a community call with Cosmos Product Director Jack Zampolin. He talked mostly about IBC, Cosmos, & Tendermint, but it’s nice to see that both orgs are still dedicated to one another.

Forbole — Is still raising for their VC rounds, but announced early in the month around $100k. That number has surely increased. Forbole is a validator like us, but they also have their hands in Desmos, a Cosmos-based social media project. Desmos project work launched this month with a fancy new website and work started.

Kava — followed their November mainnet with a ton of resources including a REST server setup guide, Ledger Nano Wallet setup, and staking guide.

Paradigm.Market — has rebranded from Paradigm Labs, and doesn’t have December updates out yet, but has been feverish on releasing stuff recently on their 0x side. The Tendermint-based product Kosu has been maintaining while the focus is on the 0x product.

Summary

These project updates were researched from project blogs. If you have a project that’s active but not listed here, please reach out to the Cypher Core team to make sure your update is included in future posts. Cypher Core is dedicated to the Cosmos ecosystem and community and is here to help as a validator (delegate ATOM’s with Cypher Core), as well as to help projects solve business needs like getting your project the sunshine it needs to thrive.
