The basic focus of our research was on the difficulties diabetics encounter in their everyday life.

After coming in touch with four people of the diabetic community, ages from 18–22, our team concentrated their major problems, which seemed to be common in many cases. To begin with, two of those questioned find it very difficult to count the amount of carbohydrates in the foods, especially when being outside at a restaurant. Moreover, they emphasized on how frequent it is to forget to count in regular time periods, their blood sugar. This phenomenon has as a consequence, not to be able to preserve in stable levels their blood sugar measurements, and by extinction to burden their health. Their last concern was the lack of knowledge, direction and information they have on diabetes in general.

In that point of our experience, we made an appointment with a doctor, a diabetes specialist and general pathologist, who underlined the importance of a track, a detailed diagram in a patient’s life, because of the feedback it offers and the ability of prediction.

Thus, the idea was born. We would make and app. With the help from our professor we learn about proto.io and there we made our prototype!

An app which would include all these characteristics that would enhance our participants lives and not only. More specifically, the app would begin with a journal, on which the the user would keep track of his doctor appointments and checkups.

Next, it would include analytical boards with nutritional elements of food products of the market, local and international, in an effort for precise insulin doses.

Moving on, a note book was set, in order to keep track of the recordings on an everyday schedule, and important notes as personal reminders as well as a diagram.

The last page of the app, but not least, is the one of the settings, where each user can set their personal password, the language depending on the region they’re at, and a section for useful suggestions, for further improvement of the app.

DIABEATES was born.
