Now I’m confused. Intentionally leaving out context is not bias? It’s context?

Someday, I will compile and publish a complete list of types of media bias with examples. In this exchange, we have seen several. A short list:

• Loaded words
• Editorializing

Easy. It’s Journalism 101.

Wrong: “In a later tweet, Trump returned to one of his favorite topics when accused of wrongdoing — leaks.”

Right: “In a later tweet, Trump returned to the topic of leaks, stating “[insert full or partial quote].”

The Spin Cycle

“Where there’s smoke, there’s fire” is a useful aphorism — unless you happen to be talking about media coverage of the Trump administration. In that case, the saying should be: “Where there’s smoke, there’s a smoke machine.”
