Browsing at work…? :-)

So, I find myself quoting dodgyhoodoo again who appears to be way more on the ball than me these days (or just spends longer browsing at work — I didn’t think that was possible)… :-)

Anyway — the BBC are quoting large chunks of weaslebitch’s journal regarding her narrow escape.

More on stuff from yesterday

weaslebitch’s account of the explosion on her train. dodgyhoodoo’s great post from yesterday. This kinda says it all.

Preposterous amount of Firefly stuff

If anything is “evil” it’s large portions of the media

Thanks to thessalian who brought this to my attention. Friends will tell you I’m not normally at all easy to make angry but this has me spitting blood.

SF Podcast

Excellent SF podcast with Harlan Ellison, Connie Willis, Bruce Sterling, and Len Wein!

Checking in

Right. I’m okay, Annie’s okay. So far I also know of David P., Lindsay, thessalian, dodgyhoodoo, corone, nadriel and Claire. weaslebitch has some nasty smoke inhelation from being near King’s Cross but is otherwise okay.

Anything more newsworthy will be posted if it occurs.

It’s official

It didn’t really sink in until I read this. There are currently plain armed clothes policemen operating in London with an overt, officially sanctioned, “shoot to kill” policy.

This may be the biggest success the terrorists have had so far.

Africa, bush, etc

Richard Dowden’s excellent essay on What’s Wrong with Africa — yet another reason to doubt wearing this stupid armband but I haven’t taken it off yet.

No-one is surprised. George Bush lied to Tony Blair about his intentions about global warming at Gleneagles and has been…

In the aftermath

Such as it is — for most people it’s simply shrug and go on as normal.

Here’s an excellent essay from thessalian, the best source of information I’ve found so far is on Wikipedia, that includes the unsurprising Google Earth KML file and Dork Tower’s take on it.
