About 20 years ago I realised that the education system and the mainstream media in the US and Britain do not teach us about how the world really works. Concepts such as power and propaganda are extremely important, but are never discussed. This blog is an attempt to rectify this. It explains the most important topics that are absent or distorted in mainstream discussions. It is divided into three main sections. ‘War, Terrorism, Violence’ explains how the US and British governments overthrow other governments in order to control trade and resources. ‘Propaganda’ explains how populations are deceived by governments. This covers failings of the media, problems with democracy, and human psychology. ‘Critical Economics’ explains how the economy is rigged to transfer wealth into the pockets of the rich, and also to transfer wealth from poor countries to rich countries. All of the topics are interconnected, so they are rather like a jigsaw puzzle. It is only when you have all of the pieces in place that the full picture becomes clear.
