If my name sounds familiar, well, I’m kind of famous! Actually, the other Eric Ries is. He’s an entrepreneur and venture capitalist who wrote a book about startup companies that was a pretty big deal. He’s like 20 years younger than me. The Eric Ries you’re reading at this moment wrote many articles over the course of his 40-year career — first as a newspaper reporter in the South, then as a writer/editor for membership organizations in the Washington, D.C, area. I picked up a few awards along the way, but nothing I wrote in any way threatened my anonymity. While I’m retired now, writing is an itch that still needs scratching. I live in Kensington, Maryland, with my wife Lynn and two cats, Ike and Moz. When we’re not scooping their poop and vacuuming up their litter, we can be found fretting about the horrible state of our nation and planet, but also taking comfort in family, friends, weekly happy hours, vegan food discoveries (Lynn), and listening to old and new music on streaming radio stations (Eric). Oh, if you’d like to follow Eric Ries on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, you’ll find the other guy there, not me.
