From free festivals in Brockwell Park to political petals at Saatchi, this week’s edition of The London Palette shows how culture isn’t just alive — it’s moving, challenging, and uniting us.

1. Lambeth Country Show — Where Reggae Meets Sheep Shearing

Brockwell Park hosts one of the capital’s most beloved free festivals on June 7–8, and it’s weird in a wonderful way. Where else can you move from reggae legends like Aswad to the Wall of Death motorcycle stunt show, via community gardens and sword fights on horseback? Run by Lambeth Council, this is local government throwing a party that’s as inclusive as it is ambitious. Expect 100,000 visitors, an Eco Village, and pure civic joy.

2. World Press Photo — Truth in Every Frame

Step inside MPB Gallery at Here East and prepare to be moved. The World Press Photo Exhibition brings award-winning photojournalism to East London. Selected from over 59,000 images globally, these aren’t just pictures, they’re human stories, captured raw and real. In an age of curated feeds, this is the antidote. Showing until August 25.

3. FLORA at Saatchi — When Flowers Speak Louder Than Words

Until Sept 8, Saatchi Gallery becomes a blooming battleground with over 100 works that reimagine flowers as protest, poetry, and power. From Yinka Shonibare to Zoe Buckman, FLORA challenges ideas of beauty, gender, climate, and identity through immersive installations. It’s where petals push back.

4. Taste of the Caribbean — Your Passport to Sunshine

Ravenscourt Park transforms into island paradise on June 7. Live reggae, jerk chicken, steel pans, rum punch, and dancing until sunset. Taste of the Caribbean isn’t just a food fest, it’s a full sensory escape with family fun and a global heartbeat.

Culture is how London breathes. Whether you’re dancing in Lambeth, wandering through photo galleries, or sipping rum in Hammersmith, the city is inviting you to connect.

Subscribe to The London Palette for your weekly curated fix.
thelondonpalette.beehiiv.com

#TheLondonPalette #LondonEvents #TasteOfTheCaribbean #LambethCountryShow #SaatchiGallery #WorldPressPhoto #ThingsToDoInLondon #LondonCulture #PetalsAsProtest #CityLifeLondon

Here’s a snapshot from this week’s edition of The London

Palette, of how our city is stitching together heritage, activism, and creativity, and inviting everyone to be part of the story.

1 — The Weaver Mural: Ilford’s New Cultural Thread

On a once-blank wall in Ilford’s Mount Pleasant estate, a powerful mural now celebrates the area’s rich South Asian textile legacy. The Weaver, co-created by artist Shauna Anseo and local residents, honours generations of migrant women who found independence through making clothes. It’s not just a tribute, it’s a living, breathing story of resilience and identity woven into public space.

2 — Jazz Cabaret Meets the Dancefloor at the Barbican

Charles Mingus’ 1963 masterpiece gets a radical remix. From April 17–19, the Barbican turns into a rainbow cabaret as Clod Ensemble and the Nu Civilisation Orchestra bring The Black Saint and The Sinner Lady to life. You can sip cocktails, dance with the performers, or sit back and soak in the soul. It’s jazz, but not as you know it.

3 — Fleet Street Finds Its Voice Again

From May 14–17, the inaugural Festival of Words transforms Fleet Street into a literary playground. Expect panel debates on AI and censorship, live book readings from Booker Prize authors, and a Guinness World Record attempt with Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday. It’s a modern reimagining of London’s most historic publishing hub.

4 — Feminist Flames Light Up the Barbican

Citra Sasmita’s Into Eternal Land exhibition blazes with myth, memory, and resistance. This free show is her first in the UK and reclaims traditional Balinese art to centre women’s voices. It’s fierce, hypnotic, and runs until April 21 at the Barbican’s Curve Gallery.

5 — From Cast-Offs to Catwalk in Tooting

On June 15, the Remaykit Fashion Show turns upcycled clothes into couture at The Bedford in Tooting. Forget fast fashion, this is community-made, creatively remixed, and runway-ready. Ir’s fashion with a conscience and a whole lot of joy.

If you’d like to read the full articles and want more of this each week, from cultural gems to creative opportunities to live music, subscribe to The London Palette.

https://thelondonpalette.beehiiv.com

From this week’s edition of The London Palette, I wanted to share a slice of how our city is in motion, and not just watching the world go by.

1- Strictly Wandsworth: When a Borough Becomes a Ballroom

Wandsworth’s year as London Borough of Culture 2025 ignited at the Royal Albert Hall with 1,000 children raising their voices in harmony. But it’s Strictly Wandsworth, a dynamic dance explosion set for April 26 that truly sets the rhythm for what’s ahead. Picture 200 dancers from 22 local groups fusing Bollywood, ballet, lindy-hop and breakdance in a public spectacle shaped by Olympic ceremony choreographer Jeanefer Jean-Charles. Add Gok Wan on the decks and TikTok’s Patience J leading a finale that turns audience into performers, and you’ve got cultural programming that doesn’t just show diversity, it moves with it.

2- India’s Feminist Surrealist Finally Gets Her Flowers

Step inside Arpita Singh’s labyrinthine canvases at the Serpentine North Gallery, and you’ll be stepping through six decades of Indian life told through myth, motherhood, and memory. At 87, Arpita is finally receiving her first major UK institutional show and it’s breathtaking. With dreamlike panels like her 24-foot Wish Dream and iconic works such as My Mother, Arpita explores feminine desire, violence, and freedom through a lens of intimate surrealism. As she says, “There is a law, but that law is according to me.” In a world that still undervalues women’s artistic voices, Arpita’s belated recognition is a powerful reminder, it’s never too late to be discovered.

3- Ruskin Park’s New Sauna Turns Up the Heat on Wellness

Forget luxury spas, Community Sauna Baths in Camberwell is wellness with heart. Opening April 16 in the leafy grounds of Ruskin Park, this Nordic-inspired sanctuary blends heated saunas, plunge pools, and community values. With NHS partnerships and affordable entry, it’s proving that communal care can be both soul-soothing and socially conscious.

4- Tate Modern at 25: Where Art Meets Rave Culture

Who says art museums have to whisper? The Tate Modern’s Birthday Weekender from May 9–12, flips that on its head. With DJs from DAYTIMERS, tarot readings, AI-generated futures and the return of Louise Bourgeois’ Maman, this isn’t just a celebration, it’s a bold reassertion of why free cultural spaces matter. Since opening in 2000, the Tate Modern has redefined what a museum is. At a time when funding and footfall are tight, it’s doubling down on radical accessibility, proving once again that the most revolutionary spaces are those that welcome everyone.

I’d love to hear what cultural events you’re most looking forward to. As we head into April, here are some must-experience highlights that showcase how culture and urban spaces are evolving together. Whether you’re looking for weekend inspiration or planning ahead, these events promise to captivate and inspire.

1. Sutton’s Architectural Renaissance

This often-overlooked borough is taking centre stage in the London Festival of Architecture this June. The London Cancer Hub isn’t just a building — it’s a groundbreaking development transforming healthcare innovation. Beyond its medical impact, it’s also an economic powerhouse, creating 13,000 jobs and contributing £1.1 billion annually to the UK economy.

2. Roundhouse Three Sixty Festival (April)

A month-long celebration of music, theatre, comedy, and visual arts, the Roundhouse Three Sixty Festival is bringing together an incredible lineup, including Grammy winner Corinne Bailey Rae and kora virtuoso Sona Jobarteh. Plus, with thousands of £10 tickets for under-30s, it’s making world-class culture accessible to all.

3. The Big Egg Hunt 2025 (until April 27)

London has transformed into an open-air art gallery with over 100 decorated egg sculptures scattered across iconic landmarks. Using the free app, you can “collect” eggs, unlock special rewards, and support wildlife conservation efforts along the way.

4. Wood Street Treasures Exhibition

This outdoor photo exhibition in Waltham Forest spotlights local business owners through striking portraits embedded with QR codes. However, too often the focus tends to be around business enterprise solutions. And some even feel as though they are products hunting for problems to solve. As opposed to the other way around. Key performance indicators that support the business bottom line, have their place. But the protection of employees that facilitate service delivery of the indicators, are too often ignored. And herein lies the opportunity for abusive practices. They take place even though employers have statutory and contractual responsibilities towards their employees. Namely, establishing and providing clear processes demonstrating a ‘duty of care’.

This duty extends to both physical and psychological care. And employees expect their employers will do the right thing. They place a lot of faith and trust in their company leaders. However, historically and from recent events, the shattering of trust, contractual and statutory obligations, is evident for all to see. For instance, Chris Smalls was fired by Amazon in March 2020. He led a protest walkout because Amazon failed to provide proper safety measures to protect employees from Covid-19. Even though Amazon has a stutotory and contractual duty of care, they still flouted their responsibilities. In response, Chris Smalls launched the Amazon Labor Union. This is groundbreaking because it’s the first, successful union campaign at the tech giant. Smalls is now recognised as the leader of a resurgent labour movement.

This could have been avoided if the terms of the employer and employee agreements, were documented in a Smart Contract. By using this facility, all the duties, rights, responsibilities and expectations would be listed in a Smart Contract. And in turn, it is deployed on a Decentralised Blockchain. Once there, it cannot be altered. And everyone can clearly see what was agreed. Plus, it removes any doubts, hesitations, suspicions and concerns. The beauty of Blockchains is that trust is a central component of transactions. Smart Contracts and Blockchains shift the power dynamics. Because outside of this systematised technology, whoever has responsibility to do the right thing, can at a moments notice, do something completely different. This change in direction can create the possibility to default on what was agreed, any expectations and other obligations.

Naturally, this creates contention and leads to employment litigation. However, Smart Contracts and Blockchains have the power to eliminate this process. Furthermore, they can hold companies accountable. In doing so, leaders may apply higher ethical business practices. And as a result of this type of conduct, all of the company stakeholders become powerful brand ambassadors. Because they’ll move from complaining about terrible working conditions, negligible benefits and inadequate pay. To becoming ‘walking billboards’ extolling the virtues of the fantastic company they work for.

An example of this is Gravity Payments. CEO Dan Price, was confronted by someone of his employees about pay inequalities. Following an assessment of his own values and his desire to improve employee relationships and their lives, he phased in pay rises. He increased the minimum salary for each employee to $70,000. He also reduced his own salary from $1 million down to $70,000. Since his actions in 2015, company profits have skyrocketed. Employee relationships are harmonious as staff feel seen, heard and respected. Proving that business can be ethical, profitable and free from employee litigation.

Join Coinmonks Telegram Channel and Youtube Channel learn about crypto trading and investing

Also, Read

3Commas Review | Pionex Review | Coinrule review

Ledger vs Ngrave | Ledger nano s vs x | Binance Review

Crypto Trading bots | Bingbon Review

Bybit Exchange Review | Bityard Review | Jet-Bot Review

3Commas vs Cryptohopper | Earn crypto interest

Can Smart Contracts Prevent Shady Workplace Practices? was originally published in Coinmonks on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Together, they save companies lots of time and money. Plus, they increase certainty within business transactions. Verifying identity, credentials and qualifications are huge areas of concern for companies and governments. Each year, they spend billions of pounds to ensure that ‘I’s are dotted and ‘T’s are crossed.

Their cause of concern comes from the mass market of fraudulent degrees and other qualifications. This is a global problem. For instance, some people who want to gain a competitive advantage in the job market, will lie. Or, certainly embellish their accomplishments. It’s easy to do and forgers use techniques that make it nearly impossible to detect forgeries. Also, it takes a lot of time and resources to verify what has been presented. Depending on the situation, organisations may bypass this stage.

However, Blockchain could be a viable solution during the job hiring process. This is due to the creation and documentation of digital degrees and other certificates. Imagine a situation where a company has a tight deadline to hire someone. They might need urgent help to develop their product to bring to market. The problem is they don’t have the time or money to validate qualifications. Also, it could take several weeks to complete the whole process.

Blockchain can shorten the cycle by turning qualifications into digital assets that contain a unique identifier. This symbol is a QR Code, that is included on a C.V. When a graduate registers their degree details onto a university website, their data is seamlessly authenticated by what is held on the Blockchain. Once confirmation takes place, the QR Code is issued. This transaction effectively eliminates C.V. Fraud. So, when a prospective employer scans the Code, verification happens instantly. This is because the academic institution has uploaded digital certificates onto the Blockchain.

University College London (UCL) ran a successful pilot scheme through their Centre for Blockchain Technologies, in 2017. All graduates of their MSc in Financial Risk Management, received the seal of approval and confirmation. This innovation is progressive. However, as other institutions and organisations follow suit, will the inquiry only relate to current and future graduates? Or, will it apply to all graduates, irrespective of when they received their qualifications?

I’m unsure of the answers to these questions. But, if the answer to the first question is, yes, this is where problems could arise. As the door to age discrimination will be wedged wide open. Too often job adverts include an implied conventional route to qualifications. For example, terms like ‘recent graduate’ or ‘recent graduate seeking their first job’, immediately points to younger generations. Particularly, Gen Z, who are aged from 10 through to 25 years old. This can also be extended to include Millennials.

What’s common to both of these demographics is they are digital natives. Meaning, they’ve been exposed to technology since their childhood. Increasingly, the world of work and business are moving further towards automated systems and environments. Primarily, due to the efficiencies of Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain. Policy makers and business leaders are speculating that the current and future workforce needs to be highly educated and tech savvy. If businesses continue to hire digital natives, backed by the QR Code, Blockchain solutions, I’ve mentioned, age discriminatory practices will continue to flourish.

The inherent danger of these actions is they exclude the inter-personal wisdom, business insights and expertise, of older generations. Plus, there are many of us who have tech skills. I’m a pro-ageing Baby Boomer with a couple of degrees. Also, during my mid 50s, I started my self-initiated tech journey. I taught myself how to code and continue to deepen my knowledge of Web 3.0. So, it’s a myth to think older people are afraid of technology and are resistant to change. The more we are side-lined to the edges or outside the workforce, the history of corporate knowledge, will continue to disappear. In turn, this leads to organisations having to ‘reinvent the wheel’. This procedure is costly and time-consuming.

Baby Boomers have a deep understanding of human, strategic and operational cycles of business and life. The same can be said for Gen Xers, particularly those in their 50s. And the Silent Generation, who are over 75. We are living through a time that desperately needs solutions to deeply entrenched problems. Blockchain and other technologies are transformational. But they are only one part of the equation. Lived human experiences that can be reflected on over long periods of time, are invaluable. So are observations, insights, differing perspectives, methodologies and solutions. Collectively, they are contributions that are needed to balance the wonders of new technology.

Join Coinmonks Telegram Channel and Youtube Channel learn about crypto trading and investing

Also, Read

5 Best Crypto Trading Terminals | Best DeFi Apps

Best Online Casinos | Binance Review | BitMEX Review

Sparrow Exchange Review | Nash Exchange Review

Best Crypto Trading Bots in the US | Changelly Review

Earn Passive Income Using Crypto Arbitrage In India

Does Blockchain Open the Door for Age Bias? was originally published in Coinmonks on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Fast forward to the 2020s and we’re familiar with the phrase, ‘riches are in the niches.’ A Non Fungible Token is a technical niche in the world of Web 3.0. Web 3.0, is the latest iteration of the Internet. Essentially, it’s a global network that is fuelled by intelligent exchanges between people, software and devices. And it doesn’t rely on third party intermediaries to validate transactions, In fact, Blockchain technology, which is a key component, introduces trust to relationships, where none existed before.

Blockchains are data structures that offer different ways to store data on a computer. This is done via a digital ledger that is shared with independent users in a network. As a result, they create a secure and irrefutable record of what has taken place. This includes documenting identity, ownership of assets, contractual agreements and anything else of value.

Non Fungible Tokens (NFTs) expand the use and definition of Blockchains that were tied initially to Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. NFTs introduce consumer and commercial aspects that can generate considerable wealth, ownership and community. An example of this is Mike Winkelman, otherwise known as Beeple. He’s a digital artist and graphic designer. In 2021, he sold his digital art collection, ‘Everydays: The First 5000 Days, for $69 million. His JPEG artwork is a digital asset that was documented as a NFT on the Ethereum Blockchain.

Trading of such assets are governed by a Smart Contract, which is just a digital representation of a physical contract. It’s a tiny computer programme that’s stored inside the Blockchain. Once it has been created it becomes virtually impossible to tamper with it. Beyond artwork, NFTs and Smart Contracts can represent a whole range of things. For instance, birth, marriage and death certificates. Or deeds to a house, sporting tickets like the Olympics and Wimbledon. Through to gaining entrance to your favourite concerts and access to musicians. The same applies to business events and conferences.

Last weekend, the irrepressible business leader, Gary Vaynerchuk, held the very first VeeCon Conference. One could only gain entrance if they’d previously bought a Vee Friend, NFT character. The NFT became the ticket. Gary developed unique intellectual property by designing a set of characters that reflect attributes that he cares about. For example, empathy, kindness and friendship. The preselling of these creative assets, months in advance, has funded this annual Conference, for 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Gary combined the ideas of collectible art and community experiences, via a conference. In particular, he created different tiers of access to him. Examples include; coaching sessions, group dinners, VIP experiences and so much more. Taken together, this is an excellent example of how to build equity. For instance, it expands brand awareness, creates raving brand advocates, introduces transferable ownership, builds legacy and income generation. This last item has several beneficiaries in the form of the:

NFT Creator, the initial NFT Ticket Holder and anyone else who the original ticket holder has sold the ticket onto. This can occur if the original buyer attends the first conference and decides to resell their ticket onto someone else, at a profit.

The beauty of this is that anyone in the chain of creator, seller and buyer, makes money. Each time the NFT is sold on the creator receives a royalty payment, into perpetuity. Consequently, the power of NFTs and Smart Contracts turns original art and collectibles from memorabilia to utility to an asset.

All types of creators, entrepreneurs and organisations are experimenting with this new revenue stream. Another example is the CogX Festival that focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, the Metaverse and surrounding technologies. This year the organisers are offering a CogX Patron Programme. The benefits include collectible art, participative stakeholder relationships, a lifetime pass and more.

As summer approaches, now would be a great time for you evaluate your endeavours. Is there a way for you to revitalise your business model that incorporates NFTs and Smart Contracts? Think about all the lazy assets you could be sitting on that need to be brought to life. They really could create meaningful value.

Join Coinmonks Telegram Channel and Youtube Channel learn about crypto trading and investing

Also, Read

Best Bitcoin Margin Trading | Lolli Review | Bityard Margin Trading

Create and sell your first NFT | Crypto Trading Bot

How to buy Shiba (SHIB) Coin on CoinDCX?

CBET Review | KuCoin vs Coinbase | Bybit vs Coinbase

Fold App Review | LocalBitcoins review | Bybit vs Binance

NFT’s — The Creative Way to Fundraise and Gain Raving Fans was originally published in Coinmonks on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Sommelier. Artificial Intelligence has crossed the threshold for recommendations when it comes to our tastes. Prior to recognising what delights the tongue, search engines like YouTube, Amazon and Spotify have led the way in personalising our likes. They rely on our sight and sound senses when we select a video, book or song. Our selections build digital fingerprints about what we find appealing. Then predictions are made on the basis of them.

However, wine and all other food and drink are primarily based on our taste buds. Each of us is unique and our physical tastes are very subjective. For instance, do you prefer wines that are; crisp, earthy, dense, oaked, silky, complex, or velvety? These are just a few descriptive examples. Yet, until recently, it would have been extremely difficult to map and distil these nuances into qualities. And then use them to repeatedly make recommendations. This was due to the need for an extensive volume of controlled testing and numbers of people with varied preferences. In addition to taking account of all the chemical components that form part of the wine creating process.

Nonetheless, Katerina Axelsson, a chemist who founded, Tastry, has solved the problem. She pierced through the maze of taste bud roulette, by teaching a computer to taste wine. Being immersed in the wine industry, she recognised that it lacked coherent decision making data. Her epiphany occurred when a wine critic reviewed the same wine that had two different labels. And then scored them differently. Katerina said,

“I had a hypothesis that you could objectify sensory characteristics by creating a new flavour and analytical chemistry methodology that would measure products the same way a human palate does. And that this objective data could provide predictive visibility throughout the supply chain.”

Voila! By harnessing A.I, analytics and taste chemistry methodology, Katerina was able to gain insights into the flavour composition of wines. In turn, this helps us as consumers to buy wines based on our favourite flavours. Tastry’s algorithms has a 93% accuracy rate in predicting how consumers will score a wine.

This taste bud technology is gaining traction in America. It is already outperforming other tried and tested wine buying methods, by 45%. Tastry, is currently being trialled in the U.K and will be rolled out across Europe, later this year.

For those of you in the wine hospitality sector, you’ll be able to download an app called Bluebird, to receive wine recommendations.
