The book cover decision will be finalized in less than 12 hours.

Why am I RELAUNCHING my first book?

Standards.

Who created them?

Who validated them?

Why do they exist?

What do they aim to prove with their existence?

Many questions. But follow me, as I seek to unravel answers. Answers I’m sure you need but haven’t realized yet.

I started writing my first book when I was 13. My teenage fantasies got the best of me, and since I couldn’t turn them into reality, I chose to bestow my dream life on the fictional character I wanted to be.

Fast forward to 19. Grown, more knowledgeable, and two years down the line of personal growth and development, I wanted to write my second book before my 19th birthday.

Things took a turn a month before my birthday and I chose to simply and finally publish my first book instead of the one I was writing then. (Thank God I didn’t, because my 19th birthday project has turned into a written documentary of the woman I’m becoming).

3+ years later, and I’ve made less than 10 sales on that book. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a treasure chest. I mean, an Editor of a European publishing company read my book, and this was her review!

Why have I recorded low sales then? (I mean, an International Publishing Company is interested in a collaboration, my work must be a masterpiece!)

STANDARDS!

I wasn’t proud of the masterpiece my 13-year-old self wrote at such young age. Yes, I told people I’m an author, but I never really mentioned my first work with enthusiasm or put consistent efforts into marketing my book.

Sometime last year, I reached out to an European publishing company for my book and they decided to work with me. This review was courtesy of my outreach.

Don’t mistake that for consistent effort because even after that, there has been a decline in my efforts to get work done in that regard.

Why, Muna?
This is an opportunity that many would jump at in a flash!

I would jump at this opportunity too. The problem is, I was thinking my first book wasn’t worth it.

I mean, it’s just fiction, right? Who cares about fiction? And for someone like Munachimso, why is she writing fiction and not a book on personal mastery, self-development, or even business; tech in medicine, right?

Wrong!

I’m not saying I’m wrong to want these things for myself. I’m saying it’s been folly to think that my masterpiece at 13 isn’t worth the effort.

What is Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche known for? What about the likes of Wole Soyinka? Or Nora Roberts, an international bestselling romance author?

To think that fiction is not a befitting book for someone like me is folly. This PRIDE has been eating deep for 3 years now, so much that I haven’t been proud of my work, courtesy of the standards I set for myself. Standards that have kept this impeccable work of art hidden in the shadows for too long.

So, this is me stepping out of the shadows and bringing my work to the limelight.

I’m RELAUNCHING MY FIRST BOOK!

It’s currently on sale for $7.99, live on Rakuten Kobo (link here)

If you’re a lover of fiction and you’re great with ebooks (Wattpad lovers), this should be on your top shelf. And if you’re like me, who loves reading “serious” books (self-development, business, finance, etc.), adding fiction to your book collection is a great choice for detox rituals.

And trust this to be your best bet for something relaxing yet mind-invigorating.

P.S: The paperback version will be announced when it’s out.

“It’s One Of You” is officially out! Link here: https://www.kobo.com/ww/en/ebook/it-s-one-of-you

March 17th, 2023.
The last time I published a story here.

Hello, World.

Time flies they say.
I’d say it depends on what you spend your time doing.

Time not invested drags by, as slow as a slot. You can watch the hands of the clock tick “slowly”, and after what seems to be five hours, you’d check again and realize it’s barely twenty minutes gone.

Time invested (in good or terrible ventures) seems to run by so fast that you can barely get a grip of it. It’s Monday today, and before you blink, #TGIF captions are all over social media, leaving you either in the hellhole of whatever terrible thing you’re plunged into or wondering why you’ve barely had enough time to complete the goals you set for the week.

Paused publishing on Medium to straighten a few things out and get them running. The intended “few days” turned into an 11-month-break, and lots of changes in-between — pivoted into a new industry, uninstalled Twitter (the backstory deserves an entire blog post!), continued my education (finally!), while shedding off lots of old layers and growing new ones (growth is messy and sometimes sweet, but absolutely rewarding!)

Time is fickle and must be spent with an understanding that a second wasted is gone forever. I’m writing this to you. Yes, you.

You probably stumbled on this post by chance. Send gratitude cake to the gods of fate and chance because they sure did you good for sending this your way.

…and don’ forget to send mine for showing up here!

“No one needs to stay frozen in average or succumb to the mass mediocratization of behaviour so evident in society along with the collective de-professionalization of business so apparent in the industry.”
~The Spellbinder

You must realize it’s way too late to give up. Life is too short to play small with your potentials, yet just enough to build and live the life that you desire, if you start now. It is also still early to return to your natural genius once held captive by superficiality, mundane attractions, and technological distractions.

Regardless of your starting point in life, the fact that you CAN READ THIS (meaning you have a smart phone in your hands, heck an iPhone even! Or a laptop, with the right bandwidth of internet connection to keep you connected to the global village — the world) is a testament to the reality of the privileges you have at your fingertips.

You have the opportunity, and now the responsibility, of becoming legendary. You have an instinct that has placed the call of excellence on your life to reclaim your greatness. This call bemoans on you the demands of self-governance and personal leadership, to become beyond a technological puppet under the influence of notifications, heroic, exemplifying mastery, with a firm resolve to leave staggering legacies that outlive you for posterity’s sake.

There is absolutely zero reward for mediocrity. In the words of The Spellbinder, “…no need to stay frozen in average and succumb to the mass mediocratization of behaviour so evident in society along with the collective de-professionalization of business so apparent in the industry.”

Yes, life has been unfair in diverse areas, dealing you cards you never anticipated and keeping you at the worst possible spot in the game. However, if you look deep within you, you’d realise the unfair advantage you have right where you are. You’d also more clearly see (if you put on the lens of honesty), the many ways you can play the cards you’ve been dealt with to your advantage, to not only get you out of the bad spot you were ‘thrown into’, but to give you starting point.

Sell your scars
~Leader Bill

See your “rock-bottom” as a launchpad. The beautiful thing about hitting rock-bottoms is that the only way to go next is to go up. If you need a sign, this is it. It’s time to look up. What you seek also seeks you, and it’s time to go get it.

Life is gifting you a blank canvas now, and it’s the hour to code your own revolution. Forget the picture-perfect technological distractions that seduce you to scroll blindly. Leverage technological advancements as your launchpad to build empires in the ether.

Don’t merely exist. Live.

…signing out, Munachimso.

Content Marketing in Web3 | Why Web3 projects need content marketing

Marketing is like an octopus. With tentacles spread apart, it cuts across every industry as a necessity and non-negotiable, the crypto and Web3 industry inclusive.

However, Web3 marketing has been on a different route since the industry gained popularity in 2021. Marketing in Defi, Web3, and NFT spaces has been about influencer marketing, shilling projects, sharing giveaways, etc.

With zero regards for the authenticity of a project and its verifiable use cases, all people wanted was to make quick money, aka “cash out”. Only a handful came for the actual value of the industry, the long-term solutions it’s creating, and how these solutions are fast redefining human interactions with the digital world.

This strategy has paved the way for scams to infiltrate the space. The rifeness of these scams has increased the skepticism of folks to join communities, invest in projects, and collectively build solutions in the Web3 industry.

Though such occurrence is a norm for new industries and technological innovations (the “dot-com” bubble is a notable reference), concerns have been raised on how to reduce or eliminate the continued prevalence of such.

To reduce its prevalence, a check must be placed on the publicity processes and marketing strategies.

Approaching this issue from the marketing perspective,

What if Web3 marketers change their marketing strategies?

What if instead of chasing clout and numbers with shillings and giveaways only, we approach marketing from a value-exchange perspective?

What if we have a mix of Web2 marketing strategies with Web3 features of decentralization, blockchain authentication, and verified use cases of projects, with solutions to real-life problems?

Studying marketing and how content marketing brought many Web2 companies to stardom, it is safe to conclude that replicating certain Web2 content marketing strategies in Web3 can help build self-sustaining communities through content (which is synonymous with building an audience of customers and clients in Web2).

Web2 and Web3 Content Marketing share some similarities:

Content that attracts

Content that nurtures

Content that shapes decisions even before an offer is made (In Web3, your content marketing quality determines whether people will join your community, use your product, contribute to your project, or the growth and development of the community).

Content that builds your audience and customer base (community and user base in Web3)

However, content marketing in Web3 is not only about building communities — which is the boon of the existence of marketing in Web3.

Content marketing, a strategy majorly employed by Web2 brands and companies, has proven its importance and stretching impact in Web3, the most recent evolution of the Web, which deploys cutting-edge technologies to redefine how internet users interact with the internet.

Content Marketing has greater importance to Web3 brands and projects than Web2 companies. This is due to market volatility, the bull and bear market runs, resulting in crashes or successes of certain projects, and the susceptibility to rug pull scams (projects with fake founders who pull out once heavy investments are made).

Most project founders ignore this, relying solely on Twitter influencers to shill their projects just before launch. While this seems to be an excellent method to attract attention, increase community size and engagement through testnet accounts, it is an unreliable long-term strategy as it does not emblazon the value proposition of your project–the key factor to long-term sustainability.

Content marketing bridges that gap by putting upfront, the value proposition of your project, telling members what to expect when they join your community, and turning community members into evangelists of your project once it launches and as it upgrades.

You don’t have to pay influencers who don’t understand the depths of your project to shill your projects because you will have community members–your potential users, who understand your project and are building with you.

An added advantage is a lesser marketing budget–zero influencers to pay and lesser ads to run because there are project evangelists shilling your project with a depth of knowledge, and of course, incentives.

Here is what Web3 content marketing looks like:

Creating content that explains the mission and vision of your NFT project, Defi protocol, or Web3 brand to attract your ideal community members, ready and willing to join your community and actively contribute to your project.

This could be in form of blogs using decentralized CMS tools like AesirX, social media posts, and newsletters.

Content that answers the “what”, “why”, and “how” questions of your ideal users, which in turn, guarantees their validation of your project.

This could be in form of newsletters and webinars. Let’s say your project’s name is Project X. This is what these questions would look like:

“What” question- What is Project X about? What problem does it aim to solve? What specific transformation does it offer (solution to the user and industry in general?

Why question- Why should I contribute to Project X (benefits to the contributors and/or early builders)?

How question- How does Project X intend to achieve this? How can I contribute at any level of knowledge or experience?

Your answers to these questions must be clear, direct, and well-detailed. You don’t want to leave out any information, no matter how trivial it may seem.

Answering these questions also helps to target your ideal users in your marketing campaigns, bringing in only folks interested in your project.

Using content to answer FAQs of your project. Everyone can relate to a bad customer service experience (Web2 or Web3). No one likes to feel ignored or irrelevant. However, most questions from newbie users or contributors are repeated.

Instead of making a fuss, turn them into FAQ content in your CMS tools, and direct users there when the same or similar questions pop up.

With a detailed onboarding guide, as well as detailed content answering the “what”, “why”, and “how”, you create a system that meets the needs of your users and/or contributors with evergreen content.

This kind of content is best for educational articles on blogs or downloadable materials like PDFs or video content.

Content that speaks to your users at different stages of their journey, from onboarding to the contribution process. This is most important for people at the onboarding stage. Detailed content helps them navigate the needed friction at the onboarding stage.

From the friction of the onboarding stage to the different levels of contribution, users need guides to navigate their way around; to know how they can contribute, to what extent, and in what capacity.

Creating content that addresses likely roadblocks makes contribution easier. Social media posts and webinars are a great fit for such content.

Content that educates folks about the problems your project solves (the pain vs painkiller method).

This is simply addressing or creating awareness of the problem, and giving details of the solution your project is offering.

A great example of this type of content is my Medium post on the blockchain trilemma, and how @NEARProtocol offers scalability and mass adoption through sharding technologies, making it a reliable Layer 1 protocol.

In this post, I applied the pain vs painkiller method, explaining why Near Protocol is the best bet for scalability with its sharding technologies.

Here, blogs, infographics, case studies, and interviews are laudable content types.

The recent rug-pull scams ravaging the crypto and Web3 community have become a concern for all crypto and Web3 folks. It is also proof that most Web3/crypto folks do not understand the use cases or the ideas behind this technology, hence, fall victim to scams.

With no clear signal on how to smell a scam dynamite miles ahead, content marketing is fast becoming the northern star in the chaotic market.

Content marketing shows the effort involved in building a project or community, taking into consideration, the interest of users, community members, and project contributors.

Advantages of Content Marketing in Web3

Attracts genuinely interested folks whose values align with your projects.

Builds a more member-centric community where the interests and needs of community members are protected and met.

Projects the value-proposition of your project by making a loud statement of your project’s mission and vision through content.

Separates your project from noisy chaos caused by empty but loud projects and project founders (most of which end up as rug-pull scams or failed projects).

Builds trust with angel investors and venture capitalists looking to invest in projects.

Incentivizing community members (users) to create content for your project encourages value exchange between your project and its users.

As a Web3 content marketer, I help Web3 brands, Defi protocols, and NFT projects attract their ideal community members with content.

Shoot me a DM to let’s work on your project or brand.

New to trading?

On Multiplicative Systems — Identify and Eliminate your Weak Links for a successful 2023

A system is only as strong as its weakest link.
Farnam Street

Ever wondered why 80% of the goals you set in January never get past February?
Why you set goals at the beginning of the year, but fail to see them through before the end of January?

I’m sure you can relate — start January with high hopes and positive vibes, end the month with zero motivation, much less discipline, and unfulfilled goals staring right at your face with eyes pricking your conscience.

Every new year starts and ends the same. At most, you do nothing because you’ve lost the zeal, and instead of trying to get back on your feet, you run the rest of the year on “Que sera sera”, only to repeat the new year rat cycle at the start of the following year.

Until you’re tired of that cycle, you’ll keep falling victim to the same processes and getting the same results.

What do you do? How do you change that? How do you get out of this cycle to build a life you’re proud of?

You must be wondering why I’m writing a new year’s post in March. Firstly, this is my first Medium post in 2023. Safe to say “Happy New Year to you!”

Hello, 2023!

Secondly, this was an intentional move to write about new year in March because I’m sure you’ve either forgotten your new year goals and resolutions, or you’ve “lost motivation to keep going”.

Whatever the case may be, this post is your cue to pick yourself up and keep going, not to repeat the same wrong processes but to fix the loopholes in your modus operandi.

This isn’t a motivational post. It is the post that answers your questions on why your new year goals never get past January, and what you should do differently to get out of that cycle.

New years come with new beginnings, new energy, and most importantly, new lessons to carry into the year; lessons on friendships, relationships, finances, business, career, health, setting goals, etc.

At the beginning of this year, 70% of the posts I came across online were about creating systems to achieve your goals.

These systems simply mean setting up daily habits that involve the goals you set for the year.

To create such systems, first, break down your yearly goals into quarterly goals (goals to achieve in 3 months). Again, break down your quarterly goals into monthly goals. Break down the monthly goals into weekly goals, and break down the weekly goals into daily goals.

Add your daily goals to your daily routine, next to your automated habits such that once you finish the automated habit (e.g taking your bath in the morning), your brain eases smoothly into the new habit you want to form (your daily goals that make up your goals for the year).

This works for the career, business, or financial goals you set for the year. Set your goals with the “how” question in mind: “How can I achieve these goals?”

Image from Research Gate

Turn your answers into action plans and break down your action plans into daily habits. Doing this simplifies your big goals into easy-to-do daily plans to add to your to-do list and execute.

However, hitting your yearly goals doesn’t end with creating systems. While that makes up a huge chunk of your capability to hit your goals without getting discouraged, the discipline factor can never be ignored.

19% of the posts I came across online in January were about discipline. Creating systems without personal discipline to show up and execute tasks when necessary is futile.

Ambition without implementation is a ridiculous delusion.
The Spellbinder, 5AM Club.

Discipline is also for those (you) who “lost motivation to keep going”. You don’t need motivation, you need discipline. Motivation injects intensity, cheap dopamine; discipline fuels consistency.

Chase discipline, not dopamine: Visualize Value

Consistency helps you stay on track till you achieve your goals, while intensity gives a momentary push that stops once the force behind it is gone. You can’t count on external forces to keep going. You have to build an internal force of accountability that keeps you going even when you don’t feel like it.

Creating strong, automated systems + personal discipline sums up the equation of a successful year. However, there is a missing variable in that equation, an uncracked code, almost invisible that 90% of humans ignore.

This missing variable is the reason why, sometimes, your systems fail and personal discipline can’t cover up. Because it is almost invisible, 99% of high achievers who ignore it shuffle between highs and lows, days of peak creativity and maximum productivity, and moments of low performance, decreased output, and efficiency.

While 10% of the other articles I read online talked about other topics, all it took was 1% of the blogs I read online to identify this missing variable, the golden key to escaping that new year’s rat cycle syndrome.

I’ll call this variable your weak links and I’ll explain how it affects your creativity and productivity using the term “Multiplicative Systems”.

Deep Dives — Multiplicative Systems

As a high achiever, your peak performance, maximum creativity, and increased efficiency run on two systems. Your output depends on these two systems because they form the processes that drill your input to determine your output.

The two systems are:

Internal System

This consists of personal discipline, mindset, emotional stability, phobias, values, and principles e.g integrity, and perseverance. Success and greatness are games that start from your inside. You have maximum control of the totality of your internal systems.

You lose control of your internal systems when you — intentionally or not — cede control to another person, circumstance, or memory. Losing control of your internal systems only mean one thing — depletion of your capacity to achieve mastery or genius.

Your productivity, prosperity, creativity, performance, and impact on this earth are august expressions of your internal systems — what’s going on inside you. Poor internal systems, therefore, equal poor productivity, performance, etc., and vice versa.

For example, if you lack faith in your capability to achieve your goals, they’ll remain on your list of things you dream of achieving. If you feel undeserving of abundance, you’ll self-sabotage your efforts to actualize it.

If your drive to capitalize on your genius is frail, your fire to prepare is dim and your stamina to optimize staggers, taking flight into the rare air of outright personal mastery and professional performance will remain a daylight fantasy.

External System

This consists of mentors, daily habits (intentional or not), physical and digital environment, social environment (friendships, relationships, etc.), etc. They influence the decisions you make as well as the level of functionality of your internal systems.

Your internal systems on the other hand influence the quality of your external systems. You will not keep bad friends if you have the right moral principles and values. With strong personal discipline, you will not have a problem building good habits.

You have maximum control of your external systems unless you decide to cede control to external factors like friendly influence or social conditioning.

Ceding control of your external systems equals reduced quality or inefficiency of your internal systems, and thus depletion of your capacity to achieve mastery or genius.

Your weak link(s) is a component of your systems — internal and external — that determine your capacity and capability of high creativity and performance.

Weak links are almost invisible and difficult to handle. They demand a genius level of self-awareness to identify their existence and extreme resistance, strong external forces of accountability, and excellent devotion to eliminate them.

The prolonged existence of your weak link(s) is either a result of your inability to identify them or your unwillingness or lack of capacity to get rid of them. Whatever the case may be, the prolonged existence of your weak links in your systems is a direct sabotage to your success.

How weak links affect your overall success

In the multiplication of simple math and arithmetic, we understand that any figure multiplied by 0 is 0, and any figure multiplied by 1 equals that figure, e.g. 8 x 1 = 8, hence no geometric progression.

Real-life systems operate with this multiplicative concept, whereby the result achieved is the product of the values of the variables. As a high achiever, the result of your goals is the product of the values of your internal and external systems combined.

In the multiplicative systems of goal setting, weak links have a value of 0 or 1, depending on the degree of severity. For peak performance and maximum output, you must eliminate the variables whose values are 0 or 1 — you must eliminate your weak links.

Your weak links make your multiplicative system look like this:

Image by me. Regardless of the position of your weak link in the equation, the product remains the same.

As long as there is a weak link in your equation, your efforts to hit peak professional performance or outright personal mastery will be tantamount to a lion swimming in deep waters. No matter the strength of the lion, it can never swim efficiently in deep waters.

As you set goals for the next quarter or pick up where you left in January, first identify the weak links in your systems. Your weak links will not be as obvious as having a bad phone charger or weak internet bandwidth.

As I stated earlier, you will need a genius level of self-awareness to identify them. Identification solves 50% of the problem. Elimination solves the second half, but until you’ve identified them, you’re going nowhere.

Having identified your weak link(s), the next step is elimination. Elimination varies depending on what your weak link is. Eliminating your phobias is different from building a strong personal discipline, leaving toxic friendships, or finding mentors.

If you know how to eliminate your weak link(s), congratulations to you.

If you don’t and you need help, write your weak link(s) in the comment section and I’ll write a post on how to eliminate them subsequently.

Until then, show appreciation by clapping for this post 50 times. This also tells the algorithms that more people need to read this masterpiece.

Here goes another business idea! Time to turn these into reality! (But how?)”
“How do I combine all these plans with medical school?”

And not to forget the star feature of turning an idea into reality, but getting bored halfway and choosing to do something else, thanks to (self-diagnosed) ADHD.

Hey fellow creator👋🏽

The past few weeks have been overwhelming — in both positive and negative ways. Nonetheless, I’m grateful for the experience. It’s been a hell of a roller coaster ride filled with a mix of everything I wanted and everything else I didn’t know I needed.

No one prepared me for this, not even the courses, books, or seminars I read or signed up for in the past. I’ve always known nothing good comes easy, but my mantra has always been, “life is a bed of roses because roses have thorns too. When the pricks of the thorns become too painful, you have the option to focus on the scent of the roses to numb the pain”.

My thoughts over the past few months have been revolving around the responsibilities of adulthood — the part no one prepares you for; finances, career, bills, relationships, dreams, goals, etc.

For me, the goal has never been to play small, to be mediocre. So yes, the “pressure” is double. I’m not in the field to be an ordinary player. I’ve never been an ordinary person, and I’m done playing small. It’s either excellence or excellence. It’s a “go big or go big” (there’s no option to go home).

Regardless, I’m proud of myself. I’m still pushing. Swimming against the tide, but swimming nonetheless. Wins celebrated, lessons learned, and a fresh dose of strength and courage every morning to go again and to go harder.

There are two wins I’m proud of (there are more, but I’ll focus on just two):

I finally completed this book I’m writing (star feature: I invited a co-author, an extraordinaire personified). I’ll publish a story about this book soon.

I got out of my head and started writing on Twitter. I’ve not been as consistent as I want, but I’ll serve myself the deserved accolades for the baby steps so far.

Being creative is fun — the part of meeting new people, sharing your thoughts with the world, having people give their hot (or cold) takes (which is crazy but fascinating!), and the sweetest part — strangers loving and supporting you for all you have shown them.

I sneaked in (not literally but…) to share this messy side of having superpowers (being creative). It’s messy, but it’s fun. And that makes it perfect — having two extremes but enjoying the ride, because one way or the other, I’m winning.

Oh! Did I forget to mention the part about thinking about 2023, planning, and getting ready to execute the bigger plans? I think that’s the most overwhelming part — the excitement + anxiety (crazy combo!)

Writing took most of my 2022, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Not only did writing position me for wider global expansion, but it has expanded my earning potential.

I’m not where I want to be yet, but I’m on a steady marathon to get there. It’s a ride, a beautiful one. The type that makes me excited to open my eyes to the fresh morning light and turn the lights off at night after a fulfilling day.

I taught myself to enjoy the process and bask in the fulfillment of becoming, instead of hyper-focusing on the results I’m yet to see, and beating myself up for mistakes, which are necessary ingredients for growth.

I won’t leave without sharing the lessons I’ve learned in two months (I don’t want to call it a piece of advice). Here are five of them:

You’re never going to be fully ready. Do it anyway.

What you seek is on the other side of fear. Once you gather enough courage to get out of your head and go for what you want, there’s no going back.

Give yourself permission to shine your light. If people complain about the brightness, hand them a pair of shades.

It’s okay to take a break, to take things slow, to disappear, figure things out and come back harder.

When the going gets tough, pause and take a deep breath. You need to slow down to gather momentum again, to remind yourself...

…and that’s okay

I don’t want to share too much. I wanted to come on here and remind you I haven’t forgotten you. I’m just figuring out the imperfections of life, which has been a pleasant adventure.

If this is your first time on my page, welcome. It’s an honor to have you here. It’s natural to follow me if you enjoyed this. The rest of my stories here are binge-worthy. I’m positive it’s worth your time and attention.

And if you want to connect with me beyond Medium, here’s my WhatsApp link for more access. You are early and can get in before the industry becomes too saturated.

As the years go by, more people are beginning to realize and understand that there is more to crypto and blockchain than just trading coins and tokens on decentralized exchanges and that there are more ways to make money from this new disruptive innovation without risking your life’s savings in liquidity pools or staking your money in potential rug projects.

Day by day, more people are doing more research to get into the finer points of decentralized finance, blockchain technology, and the Web3 ecosystem to understand how these disruptive innovations are reshaping the internet, redefining digital ownership (through NFTs and Web3), and restructuring how communities and organizations operate (through DAOs).

With so much information filled with niche jargon (complex crypto and Web3 terminologies) on the internet, it is easy to get overwhelmed, confused, and lost 80% of the time.

Statistics reveal that non-crypto folks have difficulty understanding blockchain technology, and crypto folks are still learning about this new but promising innovation.

No one has it all figured out; not even your community experts, lol. Everyone is winging it, but learning every day, learning from personal mistakes and experiences of others, learning what to do and what not to do.

However, learning is more fun in communities. Learning from experts alongside fellow newbies makes learning more palatable, which is what WGMI does for you.

Meaning of WGMI

WGMI is an acronym for “We’re Gonna Make It.”

It is a crypto analogy to drive positivity and sustain enthusiasm in the ever-changing volatile markets and unstable but rapidly growing Web3 ecosystem.

The WGMI DAO is a community of crypto enthusiasts, ranging from newbies “trying to figure this crypto thingy out” to Web3 experts, well advanced in Web3 with both knowledge and experience. It is on a mission to “raise” newbies and bring more community professionals into WGMI.

We put the “We” in Web3 through a focus on community building and community management practices.

WGMI also focuses on providing the services of Web3 community development, strategy, and coordination. If you want to get into Web3 through community management, WGMI is your community.

Why hire a community manager when you can hire a community of community managers?
- Oops, Core Contributor

The goals of WGMI include:

To ease the onboarding of the next generation of community professionals into everything crypto and Web3 and to offer them standards of community professionals across the world (non-Web3) and with community members in Web3.

To help Web3 project owners maintain and manage their communities.

With the “offsprings” of blockchain technology (Crypto, Web3, DAOs, and Defi) being relatively new, there are more opportunities than talents in the space. This creates a talent gap that needs to be filled for the idea behind this innovation to scale on a global level.

To bridge that gap, WGMI aims to educate up-and-coming Web3 professionals through:

We are developing and assembling open-source resources, standards, strategies, and tools to support this future workforce and Web3 community professionals.

Hosting workshops, community-centered boot camps, and learning programs with hands-on practicals that help expand the talent pool.

We host partnership events with leading Web3 professionals for practical physical and virtual community management experiences.

We are establishing ourselves as a leading DAO-as-a-Service (DaaS) for community development in Web3.

How to join the WGMI community.

Are you looking for a community to join, learn about Web3, and connect with top Web3 community professionals? It’s been a minute!

July-August was intense. New followers, new comments, new connections, new email subscribers, lol!

My Medium notifications have been blowing up since I posted my second intro and my online writing class. I’m not sure what made these two posts blow up (I’m still observing patterns and algorithms), but the feedback has been positively overwhelming.

If you are meeting me or reading my content for the first time, hi! I’m Ngozi-Olehi Munachimso. You can read everything you want to know about me here and here.

And, hey! You deserve to see the beautiful face behind this page!

If you are a newbie looking for a sign to start writing, you can find inspiration here and here (Muna always has something for you!).

Over the past few weeks, many people have found me on WhatsApp and Medium. This morning, I received notifications of new followers and a DM from Twitter.

I hope to stop getting nervous when people find and follow my pages online. I mean, that’s what made me run away from Medium for a while. But hey, building in public comes with being recognized and admired!

While I was away, I started working on a few things. My most exciting project has been re-branding and optimizing my LinkedIn profile, and posting more content there.

LinkedIn is a brilliant place to find opportunities. Better still, to make opportunities come to you through the right positioning. Writing on Medium is great. It is a recommended platform for social blogging and building portfolios.

However, more jobs, better professional connections, and more career opportunities are on LinkedIn. It is wiser to position yourself for profit by being in the right places at the right times and on the right platforms.

The second exciting project I started working on was content creation and content marketing for a Web3 community on Discord (a volunteer role). You can tell I’m a tech and Web3 enthusiast by my blockchain articles here.

I’m learning to create quality experiences while working and networking in Web3 communities. When the time is right, I’ll share my experiences of working with Web3 communities on Discord.

Other than these two, I have been resting a lot. I started August tired and drained, which isn’t right. I decided to stride instead of striving; to stride with the pace of grace (and somehow run August on vibes, even though “intentional-Muna” has been kicking against this, lol.)

I did record a few wins in August which I’ll love to share here:

- I gained 60+ followers here (even without posting anything for over a month!).
- One of my Medium posts hit 1k+ likes! Yikes! Read here.
- I won an NFT giveaway from BeardedBuddies! If you’re into NFTs, this is a project you might be interested in. Click here to join the community!
- Started writing my Content Writing Guide. After hosting a free content writing class for beginners on WhatsApp, I decided to put all that knowledge into a guidebook for easy access and quick reference. The book will be out soon!

September is here (happy new month!). I cannot keep running away from the numbers (I mean, that’s what building in public comes with!). I am back to publishing on Medium like I never left.

September is coming with a lot, and that can affect my consistency here. However, I am not taking any break from Medium anytime soon. If you don’t see a post from me for over a week, I’m probably building on Discord, Twitter, or LinkedIn.

Feel free to connect with me on either of the two platforms (I linked my profiles, just click and connect!).

Well, that’s enough about me! What have you been up to? How was August for you? What do you look forward to achieving in September? Let’s catch up in the comments!

For some others, they have lost millions in the crypto market, from liquidity pools to bear market moves.

Despite the transparency in these trustless transactions, which was made possible by blockchain technology, there are still victims of rug pull scams in the crypto market.

Understanding and verifying the tokenomics behind every project is the only way to discern smart, profitable investments from rug pull scams.

In this article, we will demystify the complexities of tokenomics, how to validate the authenticity of a coin, and why you should care.

With the surge of global inflation since the 2020 pandemic, investing in assets has been the sought-after way to prevent the devaluation of money. Financial literates, investors, and venture capitalists prefer to invest their money in assets to wedge against global and national inflation.

The innovation of blockchain technology expanded the limits of investments beyond stocks, company shares, government bonds, and commodities, giving rise to cryptocurrencies, the first of its kind being Bitcoin (created by Satoshi Nakamoto in 2009).

More than the diversification of investment portfolios, blockchain technology, and cryptocurrency trading redefined the structure and concept of financial investments.

By imploring the concepts of decentralization, investors and traders did not have to depend on middlemen, such as commercial or government-owned banks, to transfer digital currencies from one person to another.

Removing middlemen and centralized authorities, like banks, brought transparency to trustless transactions, and cut out intermediary fees taken by middlemen, reducing transaction costs.

However, like every other innovation, there are good and bad sides to decentralized finance. One of the downsides is rug pull scams. Here, developers create a “worthless” cryptocurrency project, attract investors, and pull out before they build the project.

Identifying and discerning the worthless projects from the solid ones is where many investors and crypto traders get stuck. This is where tokenomics come in.

Understanding tokenomics- or better expressed, the use cases of cryptocurrencies - is the only way to differentiate rug pull scams from worthy, profitable projects.

Deep Dives- Token Economics.

The word tokenomics was coined from two English words, “token” and “economics”. B. F. Skinner, a Harvard psychologist, postulated the theory of token economics.

Tokenomics explains the cycle and use cases of digital tokens created for blockchain projects or protocols, allowing developers and investors to create and manage their own micro-economies without third-party interference.

This involves token creation, allocation, and regulation of market prices via demand-and-supply strategies (creating high demand with limited supply, thus increasing the financial and economical value of these tokens).

Tokenomics (short for token economics) is the digital/blockchain version of government policies and strategies used to regulate the creation, distribution, and market value of fiat currencies used in different countries across the world.

In tokenomics, however, transactions on the blockchain eliminate third-party interference (government-owned banks) and encourage trust and transparency in transactions.

How does tokenomics work?

Token Creation

It starts with the creation of digital tokens to be used on a network. Tokens are assets created on an already-existing blockchain network using token standards (BEP20, ERC20).

Examples of tokens include MATIC, SHIB, LINK, etc. These tokens were created and operated on the Ethereum blockchain network.

Unlike tokens, coins are the indigenous assets of a blockchain network. Examples of coins include Ethereum and Bitcoin. Coins have their own native blockchain network, while tokens are built and operate on a coin’s blockchain.

After creating these tokens, through Initial Coin Offering (ICO), developers create awareness and publicity to attract investors and venture capitalists for fundraising.

The developers use this capital to build and scale the project, actualizing its use cases and solving the problems it was created to solve.

Token Allocation — Case study: Braintrust.

Token allocation is simply the distribution of tokens to network users. Without this, the token cannot be used, and the project becomes worthless.

Token allocation describes the percentage of tokens allocated to the categories of users on the network. A good example of this is the token allocation of Braintrust tokens.

With a total fixed supply of 250M BTRST tokens, 22% was set aside for early token buyers, 19% for early contributors, 5% for coin listing, and a whopping 54% (the lion’s share) for incentivizing network users for pro-community behavior.

Incentivizing them encourages them to contribute to the growth of the network. A good example of this is giving tokens for client and talent referrals and newly approved talents.

This creates demand for the token, as network users work hard to refer more people to the network (leading to the growth of the network) and talents work hard to become approved (leading to an increase in talent base and an overall increase in the Gross Service Value as the network is used).

Creating and regulating demand for tokens with a fixed supply increases the economic and financial value of these tokens and the network as a whole, making it a value-capturing, self-sustaining network.

Below is a compelling flywheel of growth and network expansion caused by increased token utility and demand:

Braintrust Flywheel created by Charlie Heinemann

Understanding the tokenomics of a project helps you understand the potential of such projects. It answers the question of “should I buy this coin and why”.

The tokenomics of any project expose its use cases, helping investors and private individuals determine whether it is a worthy coin to buy or not. This eliminates the chances of falling into rug pull scams or investing in projects that do not have long-term potential.

How to validate the authenticity of a coin — Use cases and roadmaps

Here are three main factors to consider before investing in a token or project to avoid falling for scams:

A worthy token or coin should have a strong use case. The project behind the coin should offer a solution to a problem using blockchain technology. Coins without provable use cases almost always end up being another way to liquefy the assets of unsuspecting investors.

The developers of the token must have proven public identity. If you cannot trace the developers of a token on any public platform, do not invest your money into that project.

Roadmaps. They show the potential of that project, goals intended to achieve (solutions it was created to solve), execution strategies, and specific deadlines. Roadmaps are also used as metrics to measure growth, stating how it started and how it is going.

Conclusion

With cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology being the latest buzzwords, it is important that individuals and investors know what they are getting into before putting their monies into it.

With proper research, the right knowledge and mindset, well-planned strategies, and calculated risks, anyone can make a fortune out of the cryptocurrency market.

You don’t have to get stuck in the cycle of losses from the market when you have an ocean of knowledge, resources like this article, all over the internet to guide your decisions on what to do, when to do it, and how to go about it.

Did you learn something new?

Two secrets I learned from successful business executives on making money:

Provide solutions to people’s problems (or better still, create a demand for them).
The money you seek is in the pocket of another person(s). Unlike most assumptions, not every DAO builds an NFT project or launches a new crypto coin.

There are different DAO types. DAOs are categorized based on the purpose each serves. Whether you are creating a new Defi protocol, launching an NFT or GameFi project, or building a Web3 product, it is important to know the type of DAO you need to support and scale what you are building.

In this article, we will explore the different types of DAOs needed for each project.

Social DAOs

Social DAOs change the status quo by focusing on social capital instead of financial capital, like other DAOs and investment firms.

Social DAOs, also known as Creator DAOs, are community-driven, with the primary focus on interlacing creatives, artists, builders, etc. Strangers become friends and coworkers as they work towards mutual objectives and goals of the DAO.

An excellent example of a social DAO is the Board Ape Yacht Club. Since its launch on April 23rd, 2021, the club gained social dominance, pulling a crowd of high-society celebrities, each of them, a BAYC holder.

Participation and membership of top celebrities snowballed the social capital of this DAO, and thus, the utility value of its digital collectibles.

Collector DAOs

Members of collector DAOs focus on pooling funds into the DAO’s treasury to mint and collect valuable, rare NFTs. Members share the gains and proceeds according to the share of their initial investment.

With collective collaboration, NFT collectors can purchase and own NFTs that would have been too expensive or risky for individual purchases. This gives investors a non-risky exposure to expensive NFTs.

Collector DAOs are also known as NFT DAOs. Many collector DAOs gained popularity through the dominance of NFTs. A remarkable example of a collector DAO is The Constitution DAO.

Members of The Constitution DAO raised $47 million worth of Ethereum to purchase the original copy of the Constitution of the United States at an auction.

Though they lost the bid to a higher bidder, their concept paved the way for more successful collector DAOs like Flamingo, Gremlins, etc.

Grant DAOs

Members of Grant DAOs donate funds to sponsor products of Web3 ecosystems or Defi protocols. Members vote on the allocation and distribution of collated funds.

An example of a grant DAO is the Aave Grant DAO. It is a community-led DAO that pools funds to support projects that facilitate the development of the Aave Protocol.

Some other DAOs award grants to build dApps and products on the Web3 ecosystem, community-centered initiatives, etc.

Media DAOs

Media DAOs change the narrative of modern social media by ceding control of content to the owners and consumers, instead of a centralized authority. They achieve this by creating community-driven content.

Here, creators earn equity through their content by owning native tokens of the DAO. They not only gain financial value from these tokens but also gain voting rights for community governance through governance tokens.

An example of media DAOs is Bankless DAO. The goal of Bankless DAO is to promulgate the bankless culture and ensure mass adoption through awareness creation.

Investment DAOs

Also known as Venture DAOs, they pool funds to invest in and fund startups building Web3 products, Defi protocols, and blockchain projects at an early stage.

Investment DAOs provide a platform for angel investors and venture capitalists to pool funds to sponsor or finance Web3 and Defi projects. This provides a low-entry barrier and low-risk investment choice to such investors, as well as a plus to their portfolios, as they now own assets beyond traditional finance.

An excellent example of an investment DAO is MetaCartel Ventures (MCV). It is a profit-based DAO built to invest in decentralized applications (dApps) at an early stage.

DAO Operating Systems

These are the operating systems on which DAOs are created. They provide the structure and resources for communities to create their DAOs. They simplify the DAO creation process for tech novices by providing templates to create and launch their DAOs.

A great example of this is the DaoHaus, a frontend software. With various add-ons, DaoHaus incorporates activities of the DAO with discussion platforms, such as Discord and Discourse.

The goal of this is to enhance DAO-focused discussions and open participation for members of the DAO.

The diversification of the different DAO types proves the unending utility and already-existing value of DAOs.

Further iterations and additions to the types of DAOs paint a promising future for the concept of decentralization.

My predictions are that in a few years to come, there would be no need for centralized authorities or protected participation, as DAO will be the common structure of governance and participation.

Learned something new? Click the clap button 50 times. This encourages the algorithms to push this to more readers.

I am open to content and technical writing roles with blockchain companies. Send an email to munachimsoolehi@gmail.com if you need a technical or content writer for your crypto, Web3, or NFT projects.

I appreciate recommendations and referrals too.

Types of DAOs- Different DAO projects was originally published in CryptoStars on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.
