The New IFO CAKE Pool

In December, we added staking requirements to our IFO by launching a new IFO CAKE Pool. IFO participants will need to stake CAKE in the IFO CAKE Pool in order to secure their IFO credits in the next IFO event.

The new IFO CAKE Pool attracted more than 50M CAKE on the first day of launch! Who doesn’t like a pool that allows you to stake CAKE and secure your entry for the next IFO? And most importantly — earn more CAKE with the same APR as the manual CAKE pool with auto compounding.

IFO: Diviner Protocol (DPT)

After the launch of the IFO CAKE Pool, we held our first ever IFO in the 3.0 format. Diviner Protocol ($DPT) IFO was completed with $570M worth of CAKE (at the time of IFO) being committed to the IFO — that’s 950 times overflow! Needless to say, our community loves GameFi and Metaverse projects. And rest assured that our business development bunnies are on the path of bringing you even more.

In the meantime, we appreciate all the feedback and suggestions from our community about how to improve our IFOs. Amazingly, many of the suggestions are already presented on our roadmap for future iterations of the IFO. Remember, it is only phase ONE for now — our chefs are always cooking in the kitchen. More about this below.

Fan Token Trading Competition

In December, together with the Binance fan token team, we held our second trading competition in 2021. Together we have been giving out $120,000 worth of tokens, achievements and points based on winning tiers, and special NFTs custom made for the winning team.

During the trading competition, members from each team traded eligible pairs to gain points for their team and also for themselves. Fearsome Flippers took the lead at the very beginning, but later on the second match day, they were overtaken by Syrup Storm.

However, unlike the first trading battle in March, this time Fearsome Flippers fearlessly retook the lead and carried it all the way till the end of the competition. Taking the crown with a whopping $79M trading volume from eligible trading pairs. As a result, the purple bunny managed to take the stand on the top of the trophy this time!

There were some delays in the claiming phase for the top 500 team players. We apologize again for any inconvenience that this may have caused. Moving forward, we will be actively trying to bring you more trading competitions with other amazing partners and projects. Stay tuned!

#PancakeChristmas Community Event

The #PancakeChristmas community event started with a simple idea of “create a Christmas NFT, for the community, by the community”. This idea quickly evolved into the final #PancakeChristmas event. We saw a lot of stunning works and art created by community members all around the world. This again reminded us just how creative our lovely community is.

In December, following the #PancakeChristmas community event. We had our first ever Christmas NFT drop. Just like what we said in our tweet, the amazing Chef Cecy seamlessly integrated the work from the winner of the #PancakeChristmas event into our adorable Christmas NFT. Did you manage to spot the similarities? 👀

If you have more than 300 points and an active PancakeSwap profile, you will be presented with a modal to claim the Christmas NFT.

Bug Fixes and Performance Enhancements

Continuing on our quest of building a smoother and better experience for PancakeSwap users. This month we have also spent a lot of time on bug fixes and performance optimizations. We have been working hard with our amazing partners from Helix, Binance Smart Chain, The Graph, and StreamingFast. Together we are trying our best to provide a better experience with a blockchain that has been growing extremely fast, with tremendous user demand and traffic.

We have been pushing out some indications and cosmetic fixes to better brief our users when the current infrastructures are being challenged- such as the Subgraph delay indicator when the indexing speed is not optimal (see screenshot above).

Farm Auction

A total of 9 projects joined Farm Auctions to bid for a coveted PancakeSwap farm pair. We launched #10 and #11 auctions, with 6 winner farms in total in December.

We’ve burned a total of 365,870 CAKE so far since the first auction launched back in August. That’s 4.3M worth of USD.

IFO 3.1

The current phase 1 version of the IFO 3.0 is not optimal. We realized it is time to say farewell to the current sales model, and replace it with something new and fresh. Combined with the IFO CAKE Pool, the new IFO 3.1 aims to provide more opportunities to the loyal PancakeSwap product fanbase and (NFT?) holders.

Great things take time and improvements are worth waiting for. The new IFO 3.1 with a brand new type of sale structure is currently under development and expected to come with the future IFOs. Follow us on Twitter to catch the latest news about it.

MasterChef v2

Since the launch of PancakeSwap back in September 2020, our MasterChef has been working round the clock for all the yield farmers and CAKE stakers. We have a lot of interesting ideas for potential future products but unfortunately, due to the limitation of our current MasterChef contract, implementing them has been a huge challenge, if not impossible.

So, it is time for a new MasterChef! The new MasterChef v2 will serve as a solid foundation for future PancakeSwap products. This would enable the entire PancakeSwap product line to really evolve into a 2.0 era, without previous limitations.

MasterChef is the root and the fundamental piece of PancakeSwap. Needless to say, safety is the utmost priority. The new MasterChef v2 will go through several rounds of internal and external audits before actually going live and executing the migration. To ensure a smooth transition, we will also publish the technical details beforehand for all of our partners who are using our current MasterChef.

Fixed Term Staking

This is one of the long awaited items on our To-Do list. We haven’t been able to implement this due to the limitations of our current MasterChef. However, as mentioned above, with a new MasterChef coming, we are now able to re-ignite the development of this product. Expect this to come with our brand new MasterChef v2!

General Enhancements and Bug Fixes

Besides the developments of new products, tiny updates are always being implemented in the background. So just like December, we are expecting a lot of small but prominent enhancements and bug fixes to be carried out in the next coming months which will greatly improve the overall usability and ease of use of PancakeSwap.

Limit Order

Regrettably, our vendor who helps develop this feature with us has encountered some technical difficulties. We are currently working closely with them to resolve the issue and hope to bring this dish to the table as soon as possible.

IFO: Mines of Dalarnia ($DAR)

In last month’s recap, we told you guys we are bringing more IFOs to our CAKE community. And we did. This month we had three IFOs, including one GameFi project from Binance Launchpool — Mines Of Dalarnia ($DAR).

$DAR IFO was completed with an astonishing $842M worth of CAKE being committed to the sales — that’s 936 times overflow! This again shows how passionate and hungry our community is for GameFi projects. Rest assured that our business development bunnies have heard you and will work hard to bring you more GameFi IFOs.

Rabbits have big ears, and we’ve heard a lot of you calling for PancakeSwap’s own GameFi product. Aspects of Gamification have been a part of PancakeSwap since day one, including games like the Lottery and even Prediction, and although we can’t reveal any plans for a GameFi product at this time… well, let’s just say we’re gamers too. (Chef Bugs never shuts about getting Platinum on Sekiro 🎮🐰)

IFO: FC Porto (PORTO) and Santos FC (SANTOS) Fan Tokens

In November, we also brought you two IFO opportunities coming from Binance Launchpad. Both IFOs were completed successfully with more than $803M and $530M worth of CAKE being committed to the sales.

We have received a great number of feedback and suggestions from our community. So in the last fan token IFO, we made some small adjustments to the current IFO system, including more fee tiers and a different pool allocation.

We acknowledge that with the increasing demands, the current IFO system is far from ideal. So while we have been making adjustments to the current system, we’re also working on something brand new for IFO and more importantly for our loyal CAKE holders. And it’s coming very SOON. More about that down below.

CAKE Emission Reduction

This month, our community voted to cut the amount of CAKE entering circulation from 14.5/block to 14.25/block.

A lot of the community members said they want a bigger reduction option in the vote in order to make CAKE deflationary. We agree. It’s absolutely still the goal to keep CAKE “emission neutral” or “deflationary”. That said, given the current state of the market, it might be time to ease up on the aggressive emission reduction… for now. There’s a fine line between supply reduction, and damaging the farm APR.

So. To make sure we keep supply low, we’re working on more ideas that will instead contribute to bigger and bigger weekly CAKE burns.

Farm Auction

A total of 25 projects joined the Farm Auctions to bid for a coveted PancakeSwap farm pair. We launched #7, #8 and #9 auctions, with 9 winner farms in total in November.

We’ve burned a total of 315,310 CAKE so far since the first auction launched back in August.

This month, we held a special gaming edition of Farm Auction for all the metaverse and GameFi projects. 3 winning farms each received a 2-weeks 1x farm on PancakeSwap.

Bug Fixes and Performance Improvements

This month, we received a lot of community feedback regarding performance issues in trading. Since trading is our core business and we want your experience to be as seamless as possible, we took some time and effort to address those issues and pushed out several fixes and improvements.

A lot of our time this month has been spent behind the scenes, working with Streamingfast, Gnosis, Helix, TradingView and other providers to improve our resilience against the effects of the extreme network activity BSC has been experiencing lately. Shout out to all those teams and more for your hard work helping PancakeSwap keep up to the strain this month!!

With BSC kept achieving record-breaking on-chain transaction numbers, and PancakeSwap alone has more on-chain transactions than an entire mainstream blockchain. The capacity of the Binance Smart Chain is currently being challenged. Scaling is a priority for BSC and that is a priority for us: we’re in active talks with the Binance Smart Chain team about scaling solutions and are looking forward to what’s on the horizon.

Kitchen is Growing Fast

You might have noticed the kitchen’s been a little slower on updates this past month — that’s because we’ve been onboarding a whole bunch of new members after some of our previous developers left. The tech team now under Chef Cheems’s watchful eye is growing fast, with multiple new frontend and backend members already joined, and Taro’s leading up the BD side with two new business development bunnies.

This month we have seen a lot of complaints about chain performance. On one hand, our team is trying to resolve some of the issues and will soon push out fixes. On the other hand, the BSC team has also informed us that they are aware of the overload and are now working on some very promising solutions, all of which will take time to implement. They will post the new BSC roadmap very soon. Meanwhile, here are some tips to speed things up:

• Use a higher gwei in ⚙️ settings menu. Or on your wallet confirmation page.
• Try using a different RPC endpoint in your wallet app.

The NFT Market went live on September 30th. Can you believe it’s only been one month?!

OK this one’s a little one — we’ve made some smol but meaningful refinements to our logo.

While it’s always sad to say farewell, we’re super proud of how much these members have brought to the table (heh) during their time at PancakeSwap, and we’re super proud of their overall contributions to the DeFi scene over this last year. We’re aiming for an increased frequency of IFOs in the coming weeks and months. But beyond just more IFOs, we will also be gradually introducing improvements to the product and format.

Removing the need to create CAKE-BNB LPs to join the IFOs is only the first of a couple of routes we’re exploring to improve the IFO experience. We’ve heard a lot of great suggestions for things like NFT utility, staking requirements, and varying weights of the two pools. 🐰

Developing these updates takes time and development resources, so you can expect gradual improvements as we bring new IFOs to the table rather than one large change all at once.

Q: Please briefly introduce yourself and the project, DuelistKing.

A: My name is Nicole and I have been in the blockchain space since 2016 and my most recent job is Head of International Marketing at Tokocrypto — the largest exchange of Indonesia and the company behind TKO token — the 19th project launched on Binance launchpad.

A bit intro about us: Powered by in-house Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), Oracle and Random Number Generator, Duelist King is the first generational NFT card game that aims to transform the way people play, participate and earn in card games through top-notch game play, asset designs and advocacy for the sustainable future of Win2Earn.

Q: Why did you choose PancakeSwap to land on the network?

A: PancakeSwap is definitely one of the biggest names in the space that we wish to partner with and introduce our awesome game to the crypto space!

As the first Gamify project to launch on PancakeSwap after 6 months, Duelist King has achieved a number of milestones to get here:

1. completed our first NFT offerings with 250,000 NFTs sold out in less than 45 minutes
2. hit a record number of registrants and participants on the official launchpad of Cardano as the most popular IDO project on October 21st.
3. Scored as the first cross-chain NFT game built on BSC and Cardano and officially supported by Fantom, Polygon and Cronos (powered by Crypto.com).

I saw one question from the community about what kind of partnership we can bring to the Pancake community so yes, I believe we can bring a lot of values to the PancakeSwap community and leverage the support to build a REAL blockchain game with distinct users’ experiences 😄

Q: There are many games in the ecosystem today, what makes you unique?

A: First of all, it’s about the game play and game design. We have completed a playable demo for private access with intensive efforts in game design and outlook. We want to give people a game that FEELS and LOOKs like a game since people do not need to know if it’s built on blockchain or not.

Secondly, we have developed our own in-house development infrastructure including Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), Oracle and Random Number Generator. Duelist King platform is built on BSC and Cardano and supported by Fantom, Polygon and Cronos (powered by crypto.com) to provide a cross-chain supporting platform for NFTs and later Duelist King tokens. This will make sure our gamers won’t have to think twice about which chains or which platforms they have to hop in or hop out to enjoy the game.

Thirdly, we are one of the first to advocate for Win2Earn. Win-to-Earn or #Win2Earn focuses on creating a game where the players are there first to enjoy the gameplay, then to engage with the gaming ecosystem, and finally to earn real-world values tied to in-game engagement including quests, battles and tournaments. Due to the overcrowded and much less affordable Play2Earn space, we want to introduce a game with a lower entry barrier yet still exciting and addictive to play on a regular basis! All of our cards are distributed randomly at the face value of 1 USD where you can have anything from a Common to a shiny pricey Legendary Card.

Lastly, we want to bring community engagement in game to the next level. Duelist King allows the community of gamers, creators and collectors to be part of the game like never before — they can participate in the game plus vote their favorite game play and game design to jointly craft a genuinely community-centric NFT game! When the full DAO model is deployed by the end of next year, Duelist King will evolve towards a real community-owned game!

Q: I saw there is a “lucky wheel” on your website, could you explain a little bit more about what that is?

A: That’s right, lots of our community really love it 😄 We had close to 200,000 spins in the last lucky wheel campaign 😉

Lucky wheel is used as our reward program for the first card sales buyers and later as community engagement to educate our community about Duelist King. We do run the incentives program from time to time to reward early and loyal believers in Duelist King.

Q: How did you feel when you saw the 250,000 Nfts sold out in less than 45 minutes?

A: We actually did not expect that since we didn’t do any mass marketing before that. We were overwhelmed by the community support and some members cried with us since they couldn’t lay their hands on even a single card 😄 To be frank still there were some technical hiccups at our first sales, hence we are trying hard to rectify it so that our community can enjoy their hassle-free card sales in November.

Q: How does the affiliate program work?

A: We welcome all advocates and believers of Duelist King with a sizable community outreach to partner with us in card sales and marketing campaigns.

Q: Speaking about rewards, another question from the community: will there be rewards for early adopters?

Last but not least, early investors in our tokens can definitely expect more holding pressure of the tokens as it’s the governance token in our ecosystem that comes with numerous utilities such as life-time discount to cards, staking to mint rare NFTs and gamers can use tokens later to deposit for in game points and buy cards in late 2022.

Q: The graphics and the NFTs look amazing, what inspired you to create the entire ecosystem?

A: Our founder is a game nerd and he’s been itching to create a kick-ass game with appealing designs.

When it comes to blockchain games these days, normally the ‘blockchain’ part outweighs the ‘game’ one although I think it should be the opposite.

People should be able to enjoy a hassle-free kick-ass game that comes with lucrative earnings without having to master the underlying infrastructure i.e. blockchain.

Ultimately the gamers’ experiences should be the end game and we are striving to elevate such experiences of blockchain games through Duelist King.

A: We have 3 revenue streams:

2. Card sales

🌟@VenomOct: Do you consider community and gamer feedback during development of UI/UX optimization, and addition of new items/characters in DuelistKing game, so that your platform will be the best gaming platform?

A: We are a community driven project. We will have votings for our community to help decide the next card design which will go LIVE in the game!

@Naureuri: Collaborations and partnerships are some of the most important cornerstones to help improve adoption. Can you tell us about your current partners, plans for partnerships and what everybody stands to gain from these partnerships?

A: We do engage 20+ KOLs, investors in different countries and regions so we can tap in different local communities. Also we are acquiring some key partnerships with DePay payment solution provider, Refinable NFT marketplace, Ludena Protocol for social gaming platform engagement and JennyDAO for more rare NFTs.

As you can see we are rounding up our partnership circle with credible names that can bring huge benefits to our users. A: Character (including Healer, Attacker and Hybrid) can be played by its own while Magic has to be used in combination with the Character and they are categorized in 4 elements of Thunder, Ice, Fire and Poison for now — we will be introducing more elements.

🌟@StefP247: Question (about rarity of the cards in a loot box): In theory, we can get 5 legendary from a loot box, that’s the best case scenario. But what’s the worst one? Is it possible to get 5 common cards or is there a minimum rarity per box (let’s say that 1–2 uncommon is/are guaranteed in a box)?

A: I wouldnt say its the worst or best since you can use the cards plus trade it at the same time 😄 But definitely the 5 common ones in a box comes with lowest power. We don’t control the rarity since the Oracle will do so so may luck be with you 🙂 You can shop a specific card on secondary marketplace later

🌟@ye2ars: NFT projects are based on Play2Earn, but it strikes me that Duelist King has focused mainly on promoting Play2win and Win2Earn, could you tell us about why you have taken this decision? What are the benefits of Win2Earn? What positive impact will this design bring to users?

A: We would consider ourselves to be an evolved version of Play2Win.

We want to draw attention from our people to the game first.

Our slogan is Free2Play — Play2Win — Win2Earn. We believe people need to Enjoy Engage and then Earn in the game.

A: We are offering the game play in Gwent style first yet there are 2 play modes — Free2Play which is more newbie friendly and the standard version that offers a higher strategization skills. Also Standard mode requires you to have 22 cards equivalent to 22 USD which is fairly low in terms of entry barrier vs. other card games so we do believe we can onboard more mainstream users.

🌟@hanashino: What is the role of token in the ecosystem? Where can people currently buy it?what would be its used??

A: Below are our token utilities:

Today we’re taking a break from our regular schedule to welcome not one, but SEVEN(!) new chefs to the PancakeSwap kitchen today.

Head Chef

First things first… it’s been one year now since Chef Hops first brought the bunnies together in the kitchen and set us off on this magical journey.

As the kitchen has grown over the last year, and PancakeSwap has flourished into the huge community it has become today, it’s time to welcome another experienced leader to help take us on the next leg of our journey.

Hops will be taking a step back and moving to an advisory role, working together with Snowball as we get started on the next steps in our fluffy journey. More from Hops on this soon 👀

So without further ado, let us introduce…

Chef Snowball — Head Chef

Chef Snowball has been working with us behind the scenes for a while now with the aim of bringing PancakeSwap to new heights as new Head Chef. Snowball’s been working in the crypto industry for a few years now and is bringing a lot of experience in managing big teams to the table.

Starting with speeding up our hiring together with Hops, Snowball’s going to be leading the charge in the next phase of our development, and we’re flipping excited to work on what’s coming next.

Engineers

Four new 🧙code wizards🧙 have now joined the kitchen!

• 🐕Chef Corgi — Frontend Engineer

Corgi has already been working on bringing the Marketplace to you for a few weeks. In fact, he’s just putting the finishing touches on the NFT Market and PancakeSquad landing page!

Pickle, Snoopy, and Cupcake are all just settling into their burrows this week (or baskets? Some of these bunnies look suspiciously dog-like…).

But there’s room for more. We’re still hiring backend, frontend, blockchain QA, solidity engineers, and maybe more soon.

Business Development

Two buns have been already hard at work for a few weeks now working to onboard new projects to Farms, Syrup Pools, and yes, we hear you — new IFOs.

🎂🎉🥳 We’re now only TWO DAYS away from our first birthday, and the bunnies in the kitchen are cooking at full speed to get ready for the celebrations.

Development on the NFT Market is now in the final stretch, and should be ready to launch very soon. Unfortunately, we’re not quite going to make it by our initial target date of September 22. Here’s the updated schedule:

Why the Marketplace delay?

While we haven’t hit any significant roadblocks in the development, our early Sep. 22 launch target was a little too optimistic, and announced a little too early before development was in full swing. Despite all our best efforts we haven’t been able to to get us there quite on time. We appreciate that everyone is super excited, and we apologize for this short delay.

There are two initial phases currently planned:

• Phase 1: Buy & Sell approved PancakeSwap collectibles (PancakeBunnies and Pancake Squad)
• Phase 2: Buy & Sell other collections. Coming soon after Phase 1.

Trading fees for Phase 1 will be set at 2%.

Pancake Squad is a brand new generative collection of 10,000 different NFTs, brought to you by our very own Chef Cecy! The bunnies will be randomly generated from over 180 different traits, with tens of thousands of possible combinations. No single Pancake Squad NFT will be entirely alike.

The sale will take part in 3 main phases:

• Presale Phase: Wallets which are eligible for the presale will have a few hours before the public sale in which they can buy minting tickets in advance. We’ll share details about the eligibility criteria later.
• Public Sale Phase: Spend CAKE to buy squad tickets. ⚠️First come, first served.
• Claim Phase: Shortly after all 10,000 squad tickets have been bought, we move to the claim phase. Ticket holders can redeem them for free to receive a randomly-assigned NFT.

PancakeSwap Profiles are required to participate. Get yours.

You’ll be spending CAKE to buy minting tickets, but remember you’ll need BNB in your wallet to pay for transaction fees.

🦆Chef Nina: Have you ever wanted to know more about the chefs in the PancakeSwap kitchen? I used to be an admin of the community and had the same question for a long time. Well, since this duckie has now become a chef as well, I’m very pleased to announce that I’ll be starting a series of interviews with the chefs and introduce them to you! Our first guest is Chef Cheems, not a bunny but a doggy. This doggo was most excited about this interview, so selected at the top of the list.

Hello Cheems! Please tell us about yourself. What is your role in the kitchen, and what have you done?

🐕 Chef Cheems: I am a front end developer at PancakeSwap, which means I make the UI part of it. I don’t develop smart contracts, although I do like peeking at our Solidity code and see what’s going on there.. I’ve made UI for PancakeSwap Info analytics, Farm Auctions, helped a bit with the Lottery, new APY calculator and did various UI improvements and bug fixes in other parts of the site. Lots of stuff I probably don’t even remember anymore :)

🦆 That sounds amazing! You’re involved in so many different products of PancakeSwap. What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far when developing PancakeSwap?

🐕 I think the biggest challenge is time. We’re quite a small team and quite often one feature is developed mostly by 1 developer on UI and 1 on Smart Contracts. Sometimes it’s really hard to find time to focus on a new feature but also pay attention to what other developers are working on, bug reports, future plans, etc. We want to provide the best experience for users but unfortunately sometimes it means spending more time to make sure everything is working as expected. On the other hand it also gives you a sense of ownership and responsibility, most of the features I make are actually used by me personally so it feels nice to spend extra time double checking everything is OK :)

🦆 The Crypto world moves really fast, so both developers and users are struggling for time. It is often said that we grow old fast in this world… so, you’re of course now both a dev and a user of PancakeSwap, but how did you get into the world of crypto currencies?

🐕 Oh dear… I’ve been interested in crypto almost since day 1, I remember the days when Bitcoin was just a couple of dollars. The worst part is that I was just looking at crypto news and didn’t really buy anything, it was just some interesting stuff happening somewhere but I didn’t feel like it could become this big, it all looked like just some niche thing that would at most allow you to buy pizza or something. Then when Etherium came I also watched it from a distance. When I first heard about Smart Contracts it didn’t make sense at all to me, probably because there was no good example of what is possible with this technology. Around 2019–2020 things started to slowly make sense for me and by the end of 2020 I started to buy a little bit of crypto. I still haven’t made any crazy gains, I’m not a good trader to be honest, I’m exactly the person from the memes — when I buy anything Mr. Bogdanoff makes a call and things go down. I mostly just stake CAKE or provide liquidity nowadays, it’s less stressful than looking at charts and finding low cap tokens that can shoot 10x.

🦆So you’ve been watching crypto for a long time, even though you did not participate in it until recently. I heard many of our users say that they aren’t good at trading, so farming is more suitable for them. It might be news for our users to learn that some of our chefs feel the same way as them. I guess that helps you do your best to develop a platform for them to use.

Next, let’s change the questions to more casual ones. Do you have any daily routines?

🐕 No, not really. But I kinda want to. Recently I started to exercise, like jogging and swimming. I also try to find more time to practice music nowadays. I used to be a musician but with all the coding I kinda left it in the background. Still haven’t developed a routine for it, so it’s a bit hard to find time for everything…

🦆 How about hobbies? What does Cheems do for fun?

🐕 Music is probably my biggest hobby, I used to be a guitarist in a metal band, played a lot of shows and loved to be on stage. Nowadays it’s hard to find time to join a band full time, but I do still play occasionally at home, although much less than I used to. I also play a bit of piano, drums and saxophone, but at the beginner level, again — I need more time to practice.

🦆 No one would have thought that a chef was a guitarist in a metal band! I can’t play any instruments… so four is a lot! What kind of music do you like? Do you listen to music while you code?

🐕 All kinds. I can listen to Fleshgod Apocalypse album and after that switch to Yoshizawa Kayoko. I don’t confine myself to one genre, although I’d say maybe 50–60% of my favorite bands are some kind of metal. And lots of instrumental music too, Polyphia, Marty Friedman, Jason Becker, that kind of stuff… I’m tempted to just list the names of bands I like but that would be a never-ending list. And yeah I do listen to music while I code, however sometimes when you need to focus on some complex logic I find it better to be in silence.

🦆Coming back to the work related things, I heard that since you got involved in lottery development, you started playing the lottery quite a lot… How’s it going?

🐕 Ah, Lottery is so much fun! I’ve played the old lottery even before I joined PancakeSwap, and I lost a lot. But then one day I won like 10k$, it was a really special feeling, I’ve never won anything this big before. Then I stopped playing the old lottery to wait for the new version with cheaper tickets. I’ve prepared hard, calculated probabilities, made some kind of strategy which tickets to buy to get my chances ever so slightly higher and… lost at least several hundreds of CAKE. :( I don’t regret it, it was fun and I didn’t ruin myself financially, but someday I’ll calculate exactly how much I lost and I think I’m not gonna like the number… especially if CAKE price goes up… But hey, did you know that one of the huge jackpots was won by someone who bought just 2 tickets? I bet this person is still jumping from joy. Feels nice to realize somebody’s life changed a lot for the better because of the lottery. But I feel I need to mention — don’t spend more than you can afford to lose.

🦆 Thank you for closing with such poignant words. Apart from the development work, tell us a bit about the work environment. There are lots of chefs in the kitchen, from bunnies, to dogs, to a duck. Which chef do you admire the most?

🐕 I don’t think I have a favorite chef, they all have very unique and interesting personalities. I think the team at PancakeSwap is something out of the ordinary, everyone cares passionately about the project and has an enormous amount of experience in their field. I guess that chefs who truly deserve admiration are our community manager chefs, other projects might have great developers too but I think no other crypto community is so well managed as PancakeSwap. Chef Fran, Chef Bun and especially Chef Nina do an excellent job at communicating with our users on social media and delivering the news to the kitchen.

🦆 I thought it would be interesting for our readers to know what the other chefs in the kitchen think of you, so I’ve asked Chef Hutch to spread some gossip.

🐇 Chef Hutch: — Firstly I should make it clear that I am Cheems’ favourite chef whether he knows it or not. Cheems is one of a growing number of dogs on the PCS engineering team. As a small adorable rabbit, this is slightly intimidating to me but I like to think I could hold them off in a fight if anything went down. We’ve worked together directly on some products (like lottery v2 — sorry you haven’t won big yet buddy) and indirectly on loads of other stuff in the codebase. He’s a super talented engineer and I just found out he’s a virtuoso on guitar too? Damn son! Cheems has a special relationship with Mr. Bogdanoff and usually if Cheems is buying — you should be selling. Godspeed my frontend comrade, see ya in the metaverse.

Largest CAKE Emissions Reduction Ever

On August 12th, the community voted to reduce CAKE block emissions from 19 per block to just 15 per block: a massive 44% reduction.

This emissions reduction is the largest ever, and it’s so big we did it in stages to prevent a sudden drop in farm APR. The distribution of CAKE rewards is now:

• New total emissions = 15 CAKE per block
• 5 CAKE per block go to yield farms and the lottery injections
• 10 CAKE per block to Syrup Pools

Just a reminder: at the start of PancakeSwap almost one year ago, CAKE emissions were 40 per block!

Prediction V0.2 & Leaderboard

PancakeSwap Prediction V0.2 is now live! Major updates in this release include:

• Price now updates approximately every 20 seconds
• Fixed major bug where if you bet at the end there was a chance your bet would be placed on the next round
• Bet history is now not dependent on the subgraph, so you can claim prizes even if there is delay in the subgraph
• Save on fees by claiming multiple prizes in a single transaction.

Community Farm Auctions

We’ve burned a total of 83,510 CAKE so far since the first community farm auction launched in August.

A total of 30 projects joined the auctions to bid for a coveted PancakeSwap farm pair, with 10 winners in total

Farm Auctions give projects a way to incentivize liquidity provision for your token’s pairs.

Global Settings: Default Transaction Speed

Tap the settings wheel icon in the top menu to access global settings. You can now set your default transaction speed site-wide:
This adjusts the gas price for your transactions. Higher GWEI = higher speed = higher fees.

Info Site Integration

This one’s fresh out of the kitchen today (OK, technically it’s September):

PancakeSwap Info is now fully integrated into the main domain.

This means you stay connected during your time on the Info site. For now, you might not notice a big difference, but this was a large task that lays the groundwork for more integration of token and LP info throughout the site.

Just like the Syrup Soak (CAKE Auto Pool) and Claire (Prediction) NFTs before them, this month we dropped a set of 3 cute NFTs to early adopters of the new Lottery system. Eligible wallets could head to the Collectibles page to claim their NFTs.

What’s more, there’s been an adjustment to the reward distribution: the amount you’ll win if your lottery tickets match the first number is now DOUBLE!

2% of the total prize pool now goes to holders of tickets that match the first winning digit only.
