A DeFi Play 2 Earn on Empowerchain

How can we make a DeFi model that in the most simple and pure economic modelling is reflecting the benefits and necessity of plastic waste collection and recycling to optimise the value coming of waste?

Introducing a Play to earn DeFi modell that mirrors real world waste collection and recycling system, but this is fully DeFi and with a line of tokens that each has its real world parallels, listen up!

A successful Circular Economy Needs $Waste Collection and Segregation at source

The Airdrop of $Waste

We drop $Waste all over, to all $MPWR stakers and all active Wallets in #Cosmos, a big initial airdrop equal to the total amount of waste created in the world so far. We are talking around 50 billion tons, or 50 trillion KGs!

After this “Waste-Drop” we will continue to mimic reality of our curreent system, by daily emissions of $Waste equal to the dailly globalwaste production, again an insane number, more than 2.2 billion tons of additional solid $Waste is created per year, > 6 million tons per day!

2. Turn $Waste into $Value

Luckily, in this DeFi World, airdropped $Waste can be quite easily collected and deposited for $Value, in the same way that you in the real world can turn waste into value by collection and segregation at source, if you take care of the $Waste, you get your share of the $Value.

3. Grow and optimise the Impact

Once you receive $Value, it can be used to in a couple of different ways.

3.1 You can use $Value to buy $Bins! $Bins (with a Max Cap of 6,136,986 $Bins, equal to daily number of tons of $Waste emissions) can then be installed (or staked in a more common DeFi language) to earn a share of the daily $Waste emissions.

If you go for $Bins, you have to beware of another issue though: $Bins will themselves turn into $Waste after a year, and you would have to replace the old $Bins with new ones to keep collecting $Waste.

3.2 $Value can also be used to mint a Plastic Hero NFTs. The Plastic Hero NFTs get an airdrop of $Waste calculated by taking the total daily $Waste emission, deduct the number of $Waste collected by active installed (staked) $Bins. So initially the Plastic Heroes might be needed and will make a huge difference, but when all $Bins are installed (bought and staked) the Plastic Hero wont get any more $Waste emissions as we have a functioning closed loop system. If only a few $Bins are installed/staked, airdrops to Plastic Hero NFT holders will grow again.

3.3 You can of course also use your $Value in DeFi, LP or other, but that won’t get you more $Bins and not help collect more $Waste, it is really up to you,

Finally, you get $Waste, and you can’t afford any $Bins, $Value is not high enough? Well, you can always incinerate your $Waste and turn it into $Ash instead of handing it in for $Value — maybe then you can use the $Ash to swap for $Value or $Bins in the market, regardless, maybe that provide you a better outcome? Excited, yay or nay?

$Waste to $Value, a DeFi Play to Earn version of the Empowerchains real world model of $MPWR, $EMPs and global incentive tokens for real sorted and segregated waste.

$Wastonomics:

There is no Max.Cap of $Waste, we can always produce more, but it is predictable

There is equally no Max.Cap of $Value, it is derived from volume of $Waste collected and delivered properly

There is a Max.Cap of $Bins, which is enough to catch all daily $Waste generation, early movers will collect more $Waste and capture more $Value

Is $Waste a memé or are Memés Waste?

Either way, by holding and staking $MPWR you tap into both.

www.empowerchain.io

Learn the $Value of $Waste was originally published in Empower on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Empower and Maximus Recycling Solutions: Driving Anti-Plastic Pollution and Social Impact Efforts in Nigeria

“Plastic waste is not just an environmental problem; it is also a human problem.” — shares Johnson, one of the #WasteHeroes from Maximus Recycling

Maximus Recycling Solutions #WasteHeroes

Maximus Recycling Solutions uses innovative technology to solve the environmental challenges in their host communities. Through their plastic collection hubs, they offer cash incentives in exchange for plastic waste. Maximus has taken on the digitizations of their plastic volumes with Empower’s platform with great eagerness and is benefiting from both the digital transformation of their inventory as well as the Plastic Credit scheme, which encourages larger volumes of plastic to be recovered from and avoided ending up in nature in their community in Nigeria. Have a glimpse into Maximus Recycling work, plastic waste consequences on the community, and the efforts to make it more circular.

“When we visited Elelewon community located in Rivers State-Nigeria, we were heartbroken by the sight of plastic waste everywhere. There was no effective waste collection and recycling system in place, and municipal solid waste including plastic materials were found in rivers and dumpsites with frequent trash fires and blocked canals at several locations in the community.

Johnson Obute Founder Maximus Recycling

We found a huge deposit of plastic waste in the river, posing a major threat to marine life and community health. Plastic waste can choke and entangle marine animals, and it can also leach harmful chemicals into the water. This can contaminate the seafood that people rely on for food and income

The people of Elelewon community are suffering from the emotional impact of plastic waste. They feel helpless and overwhelmed by the problem, and they are worried about the health of their families and their environment.

Imagine a mother worried about her family’s health because they drink water from a river polluted with plastic waste. This is the reality for many people living in communities like Elelewon. Plastic waste is not just an environmental problem; it is also a human problem.

What role do Plastic Credits play in fighting plastic pollution effectively in the area?

“Strategic sponsorships are important because they help to fund the implementation of initiatives that promote community sensitization through environmental education programmes, marine and drainage clean-up activities, plastic waste pick-up exercises, and establishment of collection and sorting centres in host communities.

Maximus Recycling Waste Heroes during one of the cleanups

With Plastic Credit Funds, we can scale our impact through efficient waste collection, increased recycling rate and massive sensitization on sustainable consumption and waste management practices”.

We can all play a role in reducing plastic waste and protecting our communities by supporting organizations that are working to address plastic pollution. Together, we can make a difference.” — Johnson Obute Founder of Maximus Recycling Solutions.

💌Reach out to hi@empower.eco if you want an introduction to Maximus Recycling!

Empower and Maximus Recycling Solutions: Driving Anti-Plastic Pollution and Social Impact Efforts… was originally published in Empower on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

The first apps are not yet on chain (more than what we use on Empower and internally now in testing for the plastic credit marketplace, registry etc), so not much activity on-chain yet, but that’s about to change!

The $MPWR token is for now only listed on a Decentralised Exchange called Osmosis https://app.osmosis.zone/ where it has an initial price discovery and liquidity, possible to trade, get a 65%-ish apr if providing liquidity for the LPs etc.

Currently price per token is at 0.9 cents (so 0.009$), and there are a bit more than 200 million tokens out there, and with a fully diluted amount of 1 billion MPWR tokens in 12 years when fees should have taken over. We are pretty convinced that demand will go up as MPWR becomes available for the full recycling and collection ecosystem, the apps and marketplaces are launched bringing a lot more utility and also as MPWR get listed on other exchanges, quite exciting times ahead!

For now more than 50% of the tokens will be distributed to users, waste pickers, collectors and recyclers, other parts of the tokens will be distributed as general incentives for the full community of both waste collectors, delegators, validators and those supporting the movement. A part of tokens are also set for a foundation that only will use it to buy plastic credits from waste collectors and fund similar collection and recycling incentives around the world, also a share of tokens are set a side for a global plastic waste lottery where every waste picker (or really, anyone buying $EMPs from a waste picker and converting it to tickets) can participate (waiting for that first informal waste picker to win and buy a Lambo, cruising around Buenos Aires or Lagos!), and more is coming.

Currently, you can support the global waste collection network just by getting, staking or holding MPWR!

The more support, the stronger incentives for waste collectors and waste pickers, the more impact and change Empowerchain will bring. Currently, with Todays value, at least $5 million of tokens will be distributed directly to users & waste collectors over the next 12 years, what if it gets global support…

The Empowerchain is real and direct change, where every bought MPWR gives a higher value to those working to collect and recycle waste — that is pretty insane and beautiful — direct global impact for years to come — and you can still keep your MPWR.

www.empowerchain.io

Empowerchain Building was originally published in Empower on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

Buyers of ocean-bound plastics, require assurance that the materials and products they received are from the sources declared, and that the data collected can be easily accessed, audited and verified. Empowers blockchain technology constitutes a pivotal innovation for accelerating sustainability in the plastic industry. The ultimate goal is to reduce the impact of OBP on our oceans marine life and to promote sustainable practices in a cost-effective manner.

To progress on the project key experts and partners are meeting in Krabi Thailand from 22–26 May to review and approve the draft standards, integration and implementation within the blockchain system. The standards and the traceability system on a blockchain (refer to diagram) will be tested and implemented as a pilot project in a waste recycling factory (Wongpanit Krabi). The successful model and experiences gained in Krabi will be multiplied and implemented in other countries.

Empower traceability system

As part of this project, we will be researching key issues related to Ocean Bound Plastics, such as:

Defining boundaries of OBP, including procedures for data input and verification at each step, from the ocean to the recycling organisation.

Investigating any need for further verification to determine if the plastic deposited by small collectors is truly an OBP.

Obtaining the required documentation or information to be exchanged upon the conclusion of the collection process.

Key stakeholders and leading experts gathered in Krabi, Thailand to develop a solution to stop ocean plastic

We welcome comments and suggestions from industry experts and other stakeholders, as we believe that this project has the potential to improve the way we approach traceability and transparency in green procurement practices.

Empower.eco and Vestre Unveil New Digital Product Passport Pioneering Circular Economy In The Furniture Industry

Vestre, a leading furniture manufacturer known for its commitment to sustainability, has partnered with Empower.eco to launch a new innovative Digital Product Passport (DPP) design.

Vestre Digital Product Passport verified by Empower.eco

This new initiative is designed to increase transparency in the supply chain of Vestre’s furniture created from partly recycled materials and further advance circular practices. This serves as a prime example of how companies and manufacturers can proactively prepare for the upcoming EU legislation Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) which will require most products on the European market to have a Digital Product Passport (DPP).

Vestre’s FOLK furniture series and VROOM bicycle racks will be the first products to launch with this innovative feature, with an intention to introduce more products with the Product Passport QR codes.

Product Passport provides businesses with a tool to meet the increasing demand for transparency and traceability in their products and supply chain. By enabling businesses to upload information about their product’s origin, including the materials used and their production journey, Product Passport helps businesses to support their environmental claims and enables end-users to make informed decisions based on their ethical and environmental concerns.

Besides facilitating compliance with upcoming regulations, businesses can use DPPs as a tool to communicate their sustainability efforts and ensure their claims are verified.

With a whopping 70% of consumers being willing to pay more for products that can demonstrate a fully sustainable supply chain (Progressive Grocer, 2022), using a DPP early in the process showcase the commitment to transparency which may potentially increase brand trust among aware consumers.

“With the goal of becoming the world’s most sustainable furniture company, we at Vestre recognise that transparency is essential for driving positive change in the industry. At Vestre, we believe that not secrecy but openness, sharing and collaboration drive progress. And by sharing, our hope is that transparency will become a cornerstone in communication as the sustainability space becomes incredibly crowded.

Releasing DPPs for our products is a big part of this commitment, and we are proud to be pioneers in this field and set a new standard for transparency and sustainability in the furniture industry” — says Øyvind Bjørnstad, CSO at Vestre.

Empower.eco, with the help of EY Dobermann worked closely with Vestre to funnel their real-world experiences into the design of the DPP. This iterative process resulted in a precise and intuitive UI/UX design, providing users with a pleasant and smooth experience in tracking the product journey.

Example of a new Digital Product Passport design

The furniture industry relies on limited natural resources like wood and synthetic materials that can harm the environment. A more sustainable approach to furniture design and material sourcing can advance the circular economy by focusing on simple, durable designs and sustainable sourcing options. This philosophy is part of Vestre’s DNA in creating sustainable furniture.

Empower technology provides DPP as a tool to carry this information from the material extraction to the end user and make it readily available.

Empower.eco Ecosystem

“The Digital Product Passport is a key solution to help businesses meet the increasing need for transparency in their products and supply chains” — shares Wilhelm, CEO of Empower “We believe that high-quality, easily accessible information about products and claims is the key to understanding the challenges we face and to become more sustainable as a society. With the launch of the Digital Product Passport in collaboration with Vestre, Empower is providing a powerful tool for businesses to showcase their commitment to change”.

The full product launch is expected to take place this spring, and interested parties are encouraged to stay tuned for more information. Product Passport is an exciting step forward in the pursuit of a more sustainable future, and Empower.eco is proud to be at the forefront of this initiative together with Vestre.

Drop us an email at hi@empower.eco

About Vestre

Vestre is one of Scandinavia’s leading producers of urban furniture and has created social, sustainable meeting places for millions of people for over 70 years. Sustainability, locally produced materials, and the least possible environmental impact are pivotal to the company’s furniture production. Vestre is a Norwegian family business, the products are manufactured in Norway and Sweden, and are available in almost 200 different colours with a lifetime anti-rust warranty.

About Empower

EMPOWER, a Norwegian circular platform company uses digitization, cloud data, and blockchain technology to store and facilitate seamless sharing of information about plastic waste and map waste flows to ensure that the plastic ends up where it has the highest value and the lowest cost to society. This Plastic Credit Registry is being developed with a global network of partners and we’ll announce more about this soon!

All together, moving Plastic Credits on-chain on a fully decentralized infrastructure has the potential to significantly increase both the impact and the transparency of cleanup funding around the world, making sure every dollar goes where it has the largest, real impact.

FOR EMPOWER PLATFORM USERS

In the coming months we will also implement a user dashboard where you will be able to see an overview of both your contribution and your token rewards. Everyone who verifies tracking data put on chain is rewards with Empowerchain tokens. Making sure you as a key part of the global recycling infrastructure also gains as the network and activity on the platform grows.

P.S. also current use of the platform is rewarded, so if you are not on the platform, start Today!

For the full launch, Empower 2.0 we are planning to launch an incentivised testnet in March/April and the full mainnet launch in May.

You can read more about the Empowerchain including the LITE paper at www.empowerchain.io

Recycled Plastics + Blockchain = rPlastic (r) was originally published in Empower on Medium, where people are continuing the conversation by highlighting and responding to this story.

On January 31st, 2023, Empower and iWrc visited two cooperatives in São Paulo, Coopamare and Crescer.

Coopamare is the first cooperative still operating in Brazil. They receive waste from different neighbourhoods in São Paulo, the largest city in Latin America, with over 12 million inhabitants. They receive, collect and separate the recyclable material and sell it to the industry and intermediaries.

From the left — Inês from Empower, iWrc team member Gustavo from the right at Crescer

Crescer is also located in São Paulo. It also receives waste from neighbourhoods in São Paulo, in addition to partnerships with companies and institutions. These partnerships are essential for cooperatives, whether to increase the volume of material or donate equipment and supplies.

iWrc works together with cooperatives to connect them to large industries by developing reverse logistics projects, ensuring fair remuneration (fair-trade) in recurring projects, in addition to offering completely free training to cooperatives on various topics, such as financial organization, negotiation, work safety, environment, sustainability, etc. In this way, the partner companies are assured that they are purchasing socially and environmentally responsible recycled material, while the cooperatives increase their earnings, gain training and start participating in long-term projects.

Inês from Empower and iWrc visiting Coopamare cooperative

iWrc uses the Empower platform to ensure the authenticity of its supply chain.
