In quest of figuring out what I want to do in life, I’ve decided to learn and explore seven skills everyday.

This post is part of my Re Human project, in which I copied from Valentin.

Going Through The Motions

Coding: Finally found a nice site to learn coding as a beginner! HackerRank

Running:

Thinking of running is a major bottleneck for me. Instead, I did rope skipping since what else do five year olds and professional boxers have in common? The ability to rope skip with ease.

A pat in the back with a strip from WSJ’s article:

Two months before Mr. Peter launched his weight-loss campaign, he met a young-looking man at a party in Miami. Mr. Albert suspected he was in his 40s but then found out he was 65. “I was like how are you doing it?” he says. “And he told me if you travel around, there are always excuses not to go to the gym and 90% of the reasons are correct. You’re tired, there’s no gym, the gym has bad hours. But you can always use a jump rope. Anywhere. And he used it 10 to 15 minutes every day.”

Chess:

Made a huge mistake which made it a fun game. Ordered a few books and (finally) a physical chess set — will post it when my babies have arrived.

For now, here’s my book list for chess:

  • Think like a grandmaster by Alexander Kotov
  • The Shereshevsky Method to Improve in Chess: From Club Player to Master
  • Endgame Strategy (Everyman Chess)
  • Defend Like Petrosian : What You Can Learn from Tigran Petrosian’s Extraordinary Defensive Skills
  • The KGB Plays Chess : The Soviet Secret Police and the Fight for the World Chess Crown
  • A Dog’s Heart

Academics:

At this point, just hoping to drop out and work on a startup full time

Writing:

It was mid terms week so like a typical college woe, I virtually wanted to cry. Instead, I wrote a whole blog post on (of course) my lack of direction in life.

Note: I suppose feeling empty is a phase and simply just part of the human experience. I’m feeling OK now haha — quite happy in fact.
