Missions — Jul 2018 — Go
These are my missions for this month — a bunch of simple tasks or challenges to be completed every single day.
The Missions
Every day in July I will:
Wake up at 5:41am. Not breaking the chain now. But gosh it’s getting cold in the mornings (mid-winter here in Australia)…
Go for a long walk after getting up. Still following my standard route which is 4.6km (2.9mi) and it takes about 40mins.
Do 100 push-ups. For now, I like the 100 number but I’m going to try and do more of the 20-rep sets.
Do a mobility & stretching routine for 15mins. This needs to be a stronger focus for me in July, especially as I’ve realised how tight I am in the hips and legs through my work with the personal trainer.
Complete all 3 activity rings on my Apple Watch. I’m really proud of my current streak of 243 days and I’m not letting it drop yet. My current daily Move goal is set to 3260 kJ (or 780 calories).
Read a physical book for at least 30mins. Same as the last few months. It’s a great habit to have but I’m finding that I want to be more selective and not just finish a book for the sake of finishing it.
Write in a logbook about the previous day. Overall this practice has been a positive addition to my mornings since February but it hasn’t felt right for a couple of months. I need to work out a better way to structure what I’m writing/logging every day.
No email or social media before 10am. I wasn’t great at this last month so want to get his back in focus again in July. Basically, if I’m using a screen in the morning it’s going to be for work-related stuff (research, design, project management etc) that’s not email or social media. I think the key is to be more focussed on the most important tasks on my list at the very start of the day (and that’s not email or social media).
So with July now all planned out…let’s go!
‘Missions’ is a special project I started in December 2017. Little daily challenges, completed every month. Here’s my progress over previous months:
