Several months ago, we announced the availability of spatially-aware 3D video chat spaces. Today, we are excited to announce support for VR!

To our knowledge, GroupRoom is the only spatially-aware video chat and collaboration platform to support 2D, 2.5D, and 3D spaces across all devices including: mobile (phones & tablets), laptops & desktops, VR (Oculus and Vive), as well as AR head-mounted displays (Hololens and MagicLeap)!

Building a VR-powered GroupRoom 3D space only takes 5 minutes and you can import any GLTF, FBX, or MTL/OBJ formatted 3D model from SketchFab. Here’s a quick demonstration of the 3D getting started process.

Our Web-based video chat platform is built on open protocols including WebXR, WebRTC, and Web Sockets. Our modular design allows us to scale across an unlimited number of servers supporting an unlimited number of event participants meeting across an unlimited number of connected spaces.

In addition to 2D-3D / VR support, we also recently announced closed captioning and global translation services allowing anyone to communicate with others regardless of language barriers. We also support presence indicators for virtual working environments and the ability to disable spatial audio for all-hands style meetings.

Let us know how GroupRoom can help your next event be more fun and engaging. Reach out to us on Twitter or Facebook or drop us an email if you would like a demo of GroupRoom or discuss your event in more detail with us.
