When you take a course on Hamoye web app, it is only normal that you find out how much you have learned by testing yourself. The Hamoye platform provides a quiz feature just for this. Take the following step to attempt a quiz on the Hamoye platform

  1. Create your Hamoye account (click here to read about how to create a Hamoye account if you do not have one)
  2. Follow these instructions to enroll for an individually paced course or a study group course.
  3. Once a course can be accessed, go to “ongoing courses” and select the course of your choice. Here, the course we chose is “Version Control with Git”.

4. Click the course selected, and scroll to the bottom of the page. Click “Lessons”.

5. Scroll to the final lesson or the final section sometimes named “Graded Quiz” and click it open. In this example, it’s Lesson 2, named “Project”.

6. Once the new page is launched, scroll to the bottom once more and click on the “Take this Quiz” button.

7. This immediately leads to a page where you will click the “start quiz” button which will open up the quiz questions.

8. Note the time you have to take the quiz. The platform automatically calculates this for you such that if a quiz ought to be for 10 minutes, and you begin 8:ooam, the quiz automatically ends at 8:10am.

Answer all the questions to the best of your ability and scroll to the end of the page where you have the options to either “complete quiz”, “save progress” or “cancel”.

9. If after starting the quiz, you decide to “cancel”, it means you no longer want to complete the quiz but you will not have an opportunity to retake the quiz in a non-individually paced course. You will receive a score for entries you input up until you “cancelled”.

10. “Save Progress” button has two main important functions and it is a very useful tool. 1) We recommend saving progress as often as you can when taking your quiz so that the platform registers all your entries and saves them just in case you experience an interruption with your internet connection or some other unplanned event, 2) if you cannot complete the quiz at a go, you may resume answering the questions later but only within the time frame allowed for the quiz. If you return after the time has expired, you will no longer have access to the quiz and your quiz will automatically be submitted.

11. Click “Complete Quiz” if you are certain you have satisfactorily answered and concluded all quiz questions. Before clicking “Complete Quiz” do a quick check by using the scroll bar (not cursor) to move up and down your screen to ensure your selections are intact, click on “Save Progress” one last time and then “Complete Quiz”.

12. Once “complete quiz” is clicked, a window pops up asking to confirm if you are certain you want to submit the quiz. To proceed, click “Yes, send my answers”.

10. With your answers sent, a new page opens with the result of your quiz as shown below

And voila, a quiz has been taken!

This method applies to all of the courses. But should you have any questions or encounter any difficulties, please contact help@hamoye.io
