Welcome

Hello my fellow Harmonauts and welcome to this week’s rendition of the ONEWeekly newsletter. The Harmony Teams Quarter 2 off-site meeting comes at a pivotal time, and the team is working to provide you with a recap of the impactful goals they’re aiming to accomplish in the coming months. These goals cover technical fundamentals, supporting our developers, and expanding and improving your network and protocol.

To quote a tweet from this week, “We know the greatest projects are built in the toughest conditions, and Harmony will support its growing ecosystem of applications and developers as we continue to build together as ONE.”

Expect an exciting write up on these goals next week. In the meantime, users can catch this weeks edition of the ONEWeekly in video format.

Now, let’s dive into ecosystem updates and check out what projects teams are building on Harmony.

As many of you are aware, the Harmony Team attended an off-site event that focused on multiple topics which included reviewing Harmony’s mission, vision and values. The team also discussed alignment of team focus for the immediate future in addition to community feedback. Harmony team member Daniel Pagan wrote a brief summary of the offsite event and primary takeaway items; technology, ecosystem, and marketing will be at the forefront of team initiatives . The more detailed write-up is expected to be published this Friday which will describe new initiatives and focuses for the team.

Harmony will publish their post-offsite initiatives in a few days on talk.harmony.one and all official social media channels. In the meantime, let’s turn our attention to some of the updates from Harmony’s native projects.

Three Harmony projects we’d like to highlight in this edition of the newsletter are Cosmic Universe, Defira, and Harmony Play’s Pixel Wars: Origins. Each project has some key updates and project announcements that went live this week, and we’d like to highlight some of the incredible work these projects are doing. We’ll begin with Cosmic Universe and see what’s happening in their open-world game.

Cosmic Universe

Cosmic Universe is an immersive open-world fantasy adventure where players explore, evolve settlements, and level up exclusive NFTs and becomes one of the first truly playable gameplay experiences on Harmony Protocol.

Cosmic Universe will be launching its first glimpse into the Cosmic metaverse this week with a detailed gameplay demo. The demo will provide everyone with an overview of what they can expect when they enter the Cosmic metaverse this fall, 2022.

The Cosmic team also announced during their weekly update series that NFT staking is now enabled for Wizards across their ecosystem. A detailed guide on their unique character staking is available here. NFT staking enables users to earn in-game resources that will be useful in the larger ecosystem following launch later this year.

Defira’s Genesis Mint

Our next highlight is from the amazing team at Defira who celebrated their successful GEN 0 Launch this week on Harmony Protocol.

Defira is a blockchain metaverse; a fusion of DeFi and GameFi, harnessing the synergies of both models to create a DeFi “super app” inside a fantasy game world, hosting novel and engaging gameplay experiences that fully take advantage of the unique strengths of the blockchain medium.”

The Gen 0 launch marks the first time users will be able to harness the in-game NFTs in a brand new quest to explore and cultivate the kingdom. Through their partnership with native DeFi application Tranquil Finance, users will be able to participate in utilizing their highly coveted NFT’s through increased yield farming in addition to accessing their tokens faster. In the future, users will see further immersion of Tranquil Finance into Defira as the city of Tranquilia will be added, bringing additional features into the game.

Defira sold an impressive 24,771 tickets in week one and over 200,000 tickets in their week 2 drop. All sFIRA used to purchase the over quarter million tickets was burned in the process!

Each ticket gave users a chance to secure a spot to mint a GEN 0, which quickly sold out on May 13 when the launch went live. You can follow DeFira news on Twitter.

Harmony Play’s Pixel Warz: Origins

Our final ecosystem update in today’s newsletter highlights a new GameFi launch, Harmony Play’s Pixel Warz. Harmony Play celebrates the launch of Pixel Warz as the ecosystem gets a new expansion of Game-Fi.

Harmony Play celebrated the release of their Pixel Warz NFT collection on Monday May 09, bringing their first narrative driven story into players hands.

“Harmony Play is a multi game universe where anyone can earn tokens through skilled gameplay and contributions to the ecosystem. Players can play, earn, stake, buy and sell special NFTs and build a land-based city.”

Players can compete in games and earn leaderboard prizes right now, with more features coming over the summer to early access testers. Pixel Warz: Origins was released in early access on Wednesday May 11, allowing players to bring their freshly minted avatars in game to earn rewards in both Pixel Warz and the wider Harmony Play ecosystem.

We are extremely excited to announce that Ankr released their long awaited RPC aggregator on Harmony. Ankr provides decentralized nodes for developers to implement on Harmony Protocol without ever having to set up their own RPC. Our RPC update here is an amazing development for Harmony users and developers; enabling them to set up a connection to ANKR and immediately get access to dozens of nodes around the globe.

This is incredibly impactful for the Harmony ecosystem, as it improves the speed and reliability of your connection to Harmony’s network. We have heard from the community regarding the needs of manually switching RPC’s within your wallet, which the Ankr service now eliminates. This represents a significant quality of life improvement for all.

The implementation of Ankr isn’t only beneficial for users, but also brings improvements for developers looking to build on Harmony. Ankr’s protocol removes the need for developers to set up and maintain a Harmony node, which is time consuming and costly to maintain. Furthermore, using their premium service, developers can utilize their unlimited request service, global node distribution, private endpoints, prioritized requests and many other features.

Conclusion

Once again, we want to thank each and everyone of you for being a part of the Harmony community and we hope you found this helpful. Stay tuned next week for more updates on all things Harmony in ONEWeekly.
