3/4 years ago I set out to jump-start my personal development by reading 2 books a week. I have come along way since then. Reading has pretty much-become part of me. In 2020, I started a lot of books which I didn't finish.

So I got into 2021 feeling I needed to commit to deliberately spending more time in books than on social media.

Happy to take you through my book reading journey in 2021.

The 4 Disciplines of Execution

Talk is cheap, execution is king!

We often hear variations of the above statement.

This book aims to distil some key disciplines one needs to follow if one wants to execute properly.

  • Discipline 1: Focus on The Wildly Important. Exceptional execution starts with narrowing the focus — clearly identifying what must be done, or nothing else you achieve really matters much. …
  • Discipline 2: Act on the Lead Measures. …
  • Discipline 3: Keep a Compelling Scoreboard. …
  • Discipline 4: Create a Cadence of Accountability.

In the Plex: Steven Levy

This is a story about Google, a company which was founded in 1998 by to PhD students.
It currently employes 132k people and generates a revenue of $161billion and is officially known as Alphabet.

This is my first time of actually diving deep into the origins and the inner workings of Google.

It was been massively inspiring especially because of my role as a founder and CEO of a company with an ambitious mission

The key to Google’s success in all these businesses, Levy reveals, is its engineering mind-set and adoption of such Internet values as speed, openness, experimentation, and risk-taking. After its unapologetically elitist approach to hiring, Google pampers its engineers — free food and dry cleaning, on-site doctors and masseuses — and gives them all the resources they need to succeed. Even today, with a workforce of more than 23,000, Larry Page signs off on every hire.

I send out a weekly newsletter aimed at helping you grow.
