The Martian Guy — The Girl in the Unknown City [Ep.5]
Klara’s accidental introduction with Mike and Seamus
Klara didn’t listen to what the couple had said. They told her not to leave their room and not to go to the city alone, they’ll help her with this case. But Klara had her own plans, she stepped outside to search for better supports.
It was midday then, the city busy with its work schedules. Klara didn’t know anything about the city. She hadn’t visited here before. She knows only the couple and no one else is familiar here with her.
Lots of people were staring at Klara, starting to recognize she is an outsider. No one has seen her before in the city. Her behavior and conversations created doubts in their minds. City people now started to think she might have come from the northern village.
After walking down the road she came near a coffee shop. A quarrel was taking place outside, the shop owner shouting at someone. Others were standing there looking at what is going on there. No police were there to stop the quarrel. Other citizens were talking with each other on the matter and she wanted to know the reason, so entered into the crowd.
The coffee shop owner was shouting at a young man, scolding him and complaining the customer did not pay the dues after drinking coffee from his shop. The boy was rejecting his allegations and was repeatedly saying he didn’t order coffee at all. Klara understood that it was the main reason behind the messy environment outside the coffee shop.
Suddenly the coffee shop owner turned his attention toward Klara and told everyone she was there with the man, so she has to pay the dues. Hearing that, Klara was astonished. She exclaimed that she wasn’t there with him, having just now entered and she had not enough money to pay his dues.
Not only the shop owner but also a few other customers who were present said that Klara was sitting with the man, so either she or he has to pay the dues. In the meantime, the accused man took the chance and went away from the crowd. Observing this, the shop owner grabbed Klara’s neck and told her to wait in the shop until he got his money back.
Unfortunate Klara had no way but to wait in the shop while a few men of the coffee owner went to catch the accused customer. Klara asked the owner, as she had no money to pay him, what she could do to get away from this situation. The owner replied, “Sit here and wait,” for the accused customer to come.
Klara was sitting there alone. Suddenly, she felt or like saw a raven flying outside the coffee shop. She got scared and screamed. The coffee owner ran to her and scolded her for screaming so loudly. Other customers might misjudge that as a bad impression of the shop.
Klara said that she was sorry. In the meanwhile, the coffee shop owner’s men returned empty-handed and told the owner they didn’t find any sign of that man. He might have fled too far from the shop. Hearing that, Klara said to the owner, she’ll bring back the accused man to him to repay his dues. The owner asked, “How; how can I trust you.” Klara gave him her necklace and said to take it as mortgage and when she’ll return with the man to pay dues, she’ll then take it back from him.
The coffee shop owner agreed with her and let her go. Now she has to search for that man first. But where should she go? Where can she look for him? Thinking about all these, Klara started walking towards the way he ran from the shop.
The Magician:
After walking for a few minutes, she felt like she might see a guy standing far from her. He was standing beside a lamp post and looking at her from a long distance. Klara approached in that direction. Walking towards him, suddenly she saw, the accused customer came from beside a narrow street to her and took her on that path, grabbing her hand tightly.
Klara was very angry with him and asked why he had run from that coffee shop! She could have been arrested instead of him. The man told her that he was sorry for everything. He had no other option but to run away from the crowd.
Klara asked him, who’s he? He told Klara, he’s a Magician named Mike. Friends call him Mike the magician. He also told her that he knows she came here from Belgram and she was looking for help. Mike told her then, he had no money to pay the dues of the coffee owner, so he applied magic on everyone and turned everyone’s attention towards her.
Klara was stunned after hearing all the things he said. She asked how’d he knew about her. She hasn’t seen him before, not even in Belgram. The magician replied he knows about a lot of things. Although he didn’t go to Belgram, he knows about the recent worsening situation in Belgram.
Mike told Klara he’d like to help her. Klara asked why he was willing to help her in this ferocious matter. Mike replied to her it was his personal matter but he couldn’t tell her right now. He said to trust him in this case, the people of this city are not good. So, she thought, instead of being caught herself in the wrong position, she’d rather go with him as it will be better for her.
Klara accepted his opinion. Coming on the way she asked where they were going. Mike told her he is taking her to a friend, named Seamus. Seamus is actually a nerd scientist. People do fear his experiments but he’s a good human being. And he told her Seamus also knew about everything happening in Belgram right now. Seamus and Mike are very good friends for a long time. She can trust him also in this matter.
After walking an hour they came to the downtown where Seamus lives. Mike told Klara not to be anxious or pensive by his experiments and his sayings. He is a bit of a crazy person due to his profession. Mike said he’ll carry some money from Seamus and on the way to returning back, he’ll pay the coffee shop owner. Klara thought she’ll then be able to get back her mortgaged necklace as well.
They now reached Seamus’s house. Mike rang the bell, the sound being a very spooky kind. Klara was noticing the house from top to bottom and the view from outside was like an old abandoned mansion. Practically, any normal person would not like to enter here without it an emergency.
