Phillipe Cunningham, Minneapolis City Council Ward 4

November 7, 2018 is the anniversary of a historic election. On November 7, 2017 8 transgender individuals were elected to public office — The most ever in a single day. 2 of those 8 came from right here in MN. Phillipe Cunningham and Andrea Jenkins Go home team!

Over the last two years a dark cloud over equal rights and equal representation has distracted attention from the fact that this is the most progressive and open minded time in US History. While traditionally minded folks are still highly represented in deciding the path forward of the US, we are growing in thought, gender and racial diversity as a nation.

Per Wikipedia “Cunningham and Andrea Jenkins (both on the Minneapolis City Council) are the first openly trans people of color to be elected to a city council anywhere in the United States.” Progress and growth.
