Coffee is awesome – it feels redundant to even say.

But what if there was a way to make your morning cup of coffee even better? When I was posed with this question, my answer was simple:

“Yes, please.”

So here it is.

Alton Brown, renowned television chef and personality, suggests adding a 1/4 teaspoon of salt to 6 tablespoons of ground coffee to help smooth out the bitter taste of coffee.

Taste is one thing — but there are numerous health benefits of this practice as well.

Here’s why you should start adding salt to your morning coffee.

Coffee was discovered by real-life Jack and the beanstalk

But salty monks invented it.

We’ve all heard of Jack and the beanstalk. But did you know the original magic beans were founded by an Ethiopian goat farmer, named Kaldi?

One day, while tending to the outskirts of his farm, Kaldi came across a shrub bearing suspicious red berries. A few of his goats had eaten them and were frolicking vigorously, as if possessed by a higher power.
